For those that want a simpler method like @formalrevya said just go to Documents folders, find the "Mount&Blade Warband" folder, there you will find the rgl_config.txt file, open it and near the bottom you will find this string:
battle_size = 1.0000
Change that number to 6.0000 for foreseeable MAX size. Then slide between desired units INGAME in options.
This app gives you an exact number of max troops, like 567 or 352, but posting this in case you want a simpler txt edit way.
