About this image

The men forming up for battle. Initially I had infantry on the front, cavalry behind them and archers bringing up the rear.
Enemy cavalry charges gave me way to many losses so I started placing my cavalry on the front line. Waiting for my archers to fire several volleys, then having my cavalry follow me as we charge the enemy at the last minute. This was to break the enemy cavalry charge. As soon as we engaged in melee, I had the cavalry gradually fall back and let the infantry swarm and defeat the enemy cavalry who were well ahead of their main army. Once the enemy cavalry was occupied, my I had the archers advance to lure the enemy as well as engage them and attempt to flank the enemy from behind with the my cavalry while the infantry engaged from the front. This resulted in the least number of casualties in people, (although many animal casualties). Sometimes I would dismount my horse to prevent it getting crippled and mount a lone horse to mop up the fleeing enemy.
