About this video

Video Description:
Technically the first total conversion mod for Morrowind, Sword of the Perithia was released by Andre Sergoyan in early 2003 on Morrowind Summit, a mere year after Morrowind itself had been released. Boasting of brand new adventures, over a hundred new quests, countless dungeons, and at least 80 hours of content to play through, Sword of the Perithia sought to provide players with a different kind of role-playing experience than that found in Morrowind, inspired more by D&D and Legend of Zelda.

Roughly 1/4th the size of Morrowind itself, Sword of the Perithia introduced the lands of Rashman, a fairly well-crafted and detailed island kingdom with a variety of different regions and geographical locations, from the almost jungle-like appearance of the Thunder Peak Mountains, to docile farmlands of the Fertile Plains, the magical Forest of Illusions, the neverending sands of the Scorched Earth, and the ever dangerous Eastwick Woods. There's an absolute ton to see and do here, with a massive main quest, tons of side quests including new factions like the Adventurer's Guild, a number of iconic looking dungeons, towns, and villages, as well as just a ton of hostile opponents to face that make Sword of the Perithia a much harder game than vanilla Morrowind.

Still, the mod wasn't without issues, it managed to release so quickly by just copy&pasting nearly every interior from vanilla Morrowind, and because it is a total conversion, you can't just add it to an existing save-game, and indeed, it's recommended that you create a fresh Morrowind install for it in order to avoid any major issues.

That said, Sword of the Perithia was one of the first mods to show the full potential of Morrowind's Construction Set, releasing before Arktwend or the Dragon's Breech total conversions that would come out in 2004 and 2005 respectively, and Sword of the Perithia managed to win entry into the PES Hall of Fame in 2006. Today it has a lifetime total of over 25,000 downloads, and for those who'd like to play a bit of modding history, it is certainly worth taking a look at, with plenty of fun questing content to make up for any other downfalls it might have.
