Morrowind

Corrupt images and missing thumbnails

  • Comment
If you're a regular browser or user of the file database or image share section you'll notice that some images do not have a preview thumbnail accompanying them. This is due to the rather unique way the built-in screenshot creator for Dragon Age works; it essentially adds lots of miscellaneous and useless data to the start of the image file that breaks the thumbnail generator on the site.

I have created an article on the reasons for this problem and the ways you can fix this issue when uploading images to the site that can be found here. To prevent this annoying issue I have coded in some fail-safes to the image upload process that will prevent you from uploading images that cannot generate a thumbnail.

I appreciate this is an annoyance.

I just use the print screen button and open paint, then paste (ctrl-v) the image there and save as a bic.
Even though the print screen button adds the picture to the dragon age folder it will always hold it on the clipboard until you do something else. <img class=">

This was interesting, thank you! I was surprised to see my screenshot used as an example though. I have tried really hard to find a 3rd person screenshot program that works with DAO and have not been able to. I use FRAPS for my YouTube videos of the game but not screenshots.

Since I have xfire open most of the time, I usually end up either using it for my screenshots or I re-save my screenshots in an external program before I upload them.

The reason I was surprised to see my Bella pic posted, as an example, is I have never noticed my screens NOT appearing correctly here but it must have to be listed. What I do with my screenshots is I use ACDSee and will first rename the batch then convert file format as a jpg EVEN though they come out as a jpg, it makes them upload, otherwise, the screens taken with just the in game screen creator won't load. I've always done this with my DAO screens otherwise they won't upload to my website.

Normally I use FSScreen to take my screenshots of games like Fallout and Oblivion but I found this program wouldn’t work with DAO.

Haha I've been wondering why this was. Great to know, thanks!
