Something "cool" coming tomorrow

  • Comment
Fans of Dragon Age: Origin on Facebook might have noticed that at around midnight GMT the admin of the page had this to say "If I was a fan of Dragon Age: Origins, I'd be keeping my eye open for something cool coming tomorrow. Just saying.".

What could it be? Keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you find anything.

Jim_uk hit the nail on the head.

DLC content isn't free to make. No, really? Games have been releasing expanded areas, 'dlc' content, and even whole EXPANSIONS for...guess what...FREE! For many, many years. We can thank microcrack for coming up with this crappy DLC for money stuff. Now, every company and system is making their own version of it.

I realize that a lot of F2P MMOs have had this same kind of system in place for a while. Many of the korean-based ones do that. But that's a whole different beast than this.

Unless bioware is trying to secretly build up enough money to get away from EA (I can only hope) I don't see any reason for this once-great company to sink to this level. I'm sorry, I just really don't.

It's the same thing EA are doing with The Sims, only you get a little dungeon crawl thrown in before you get your new item. Instead of a new kitchen set for your sims you get a new Sword of Shiny+1. What's worse this time is it's not even something new, you can add that stuff with the console or via a user made mod.

I don't really have a problem with the DLCs but I was very disturbed by the Warden's Keep one, why the hell would the NPC be in camp if you do not own the DLC? Worst of all it sold like peanuts people accepted that crap.
Another thing that worries me is the DLC at launch day, why would you do that?

That said this doesn't sound as bad as some people think, I mean the community can do their stuff and they can do theirs and they have every right to ask money for it I don't see a problem there.

I for one am happy about it. The official forums were so full of whine and QQ I just stopped reading.
I'll be buying it on the day it comes out and drink 1 less beer for 2 weeks to afford it, big boo-hoo.
Only complain, also from the forums:

'Bioware, does every single one of your special armors have to be heavy or massive?'

    /second that

Visit an area I've already been to, get a chance to get the dog I've already got, fight the same enemies that are everywhere else and get some new armour and a weapon. I really can't get excited about this at all. I wish they'd make a proper expansion and stop nickel and diming players to death.

New player made content may take a while this tool set isn't very easy to figure out.

The new DLC has some of Duncan's equipment too... ^_^ yays

I am more interested in seeing some of the community content similar to NWN as most of that was significantly better than what came out as DLC. My question is will Bioware allow us freedom to post and download community based Modules? The current social network doesnt seem to offer that like the original bioware NWN site had on it.

    another ripoff DLC

Yeah, because $5 is such a high price and all. Don't like it, don't buy it, but don't go on about something that isn't true just because you believe all new content for every game should be free. It's not free to develop, so don't expect it to be free to download and play.

Well its going to be a grand total of $5 (or £3.50 for me) and apparently tie in to the main campaign.
The chance to nick the kings armor is pretty nifty, second chance to get dog too apparently.
Truth be told I was hoping for a proper patch or some adjustment to the toolset, but you live with what ya get I suppose.
