Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls Online announced

  • Comment
Last month I posted some news that it was widely rumoured that Bethesda would be announcing the title their MMO department have been working on over the past 4 years in May some time. That announcement has come today from Bethesda via the Beth Blog and their long time announcement medium, Game Informer magazine.

Here's the blurb from the Beth Blog article:

Since opening its doors in August of 2007, we haven’t been able to say much about happenings at ZeniMax Online Studios – until today. Announced just minutes ago, Game Informer’s June 2012 cover story is… The Elder Scrolls Online!

The magazine will be available to subscribers early next week and should arrive at GameStop stores shortly after that. You’ll also want to keep your eyes on GameInformer.com/ElderScrollsOnline. Today they put up the magazine cover, and you can expect more updates throughout the month.

We can expect to hear lots more about the game over the coming months. But perhaps the most obvious secret in the gaming industry is now out of the bag so we can all get on with it!

Played wow for so long it seemed right. I did the three month recurring which is about the same ESO is charging and pay to play did seem right. At that time I was given the impression that you pay Blizzard to play the game. Blizzard took your cash to maintain their servers, pay employes to develop new content and keep the power on.

Now I did have issues when during Wrath of the Litchking it felt like Blizzard was catering to the casual players who seemed to think because they paid their 415 they had the right to run a heroic for purple pixels. If ESO goes that way I will drop the game faster then a fat kid drops a salad bar.,

    And so.....it is!
The Zenimax Online Studios gets the two ESO servers online!

What do you think about the monthly subscription to play after the first thirty days?

The Elder Scrolls Online might be interesting but what made the games how they are is the story and the fact of you can almost completely mod the game and change how everything works. Having it an MMO would get some people but another MMO is just another with the long list of MMO's already out there. Having modding areas? if something like that where to happen it would be " Garry's mod " war someone would start something and it would be .... but I could be wrong on that. Or the fact like WoW. and any other MMO you have the super gangsters running around owning everyone xD

Gratz for them if it works great but here comes a completely new game play and unknowns to come.

I saw the new trailer right now and there is totaly nothing special about it. When i played Morrowind the first time, it was a strange Enviorment and totaly off the grid to these other fantasy worlds. And now we have exactly the same sterotypes like in those other WoW Online Games. Half-Naked Elfen Woman. Muscle Guy North Barbarian Warrior. Hood and Cloak Rangers with Bow and Arrow.

What does TES so different from the others may i ask now? I bet you a dollar it wouldn't make a different between TES and other titels with a way more shorter history than TES.

the trailer is amazingly well done, look super realistic and the armor shown looks fantastic..to bad mmo's never look good as good a there trailers

Dear Ryan888, I think you've got something wrong there the Orcs came in existence during a attempt to halt the Dunmer and their prophet Veloth, somewhere halfway through the Merethic Era.

The Merethic Era is considered "Prehistory" and is the Era of elven dominance, and is the Era BEFORE the first Era. The late Merethic Era was also called the Dawn Era, after the Dwan comes the 1st Era which is the the 1st Era of Human Dominance.

Beyond that, the Orcs have always existed as the Osimer, their Elven ancestors.

i read the setting for the elder scrolls aonline and some of the lore is off. unless they decide to include it in the game i heard no mention of any of the first or second era warriors, assasins, etc that appear in books from oblivion. also it states that orcs will be a playable race while according to the lorefrom the book,"the true nature of orcs", fom oblivion, orcs were not an existing race until year 11 of the 3rd era.

This game may be great or bad

    Pros
All Of Tamriel along it is open world unlike Arena from 1994
    You can play with others

    Cons
No Modding (Unless they make private lobbies that can have mods)
Many changes from Skyrim, Oblivion so it can support online play

Overall time will tell. I hope it will work out.

Very interesting development and not surprising. However, the whole philosophy of Bethesda gaming is being changed, and that radically. I'm not saying it's for better or worse but here are the differences.

    ...

All I'm hoping is that Bethesda doesn't go totally multiplayer because I believe that most members of this forum, which is pretty high-powered, creatively and intellectually, will become disillusioned; no more escape from reality.

TES Online isn't being made by Bethesda. Which you'd know if you'd actually read anything about it.
