With the input from the community here, on the ESF and numerous PM's the above are now available for you to use, if you have a file that would be better suited in one of the new categories please feel free to move your file.

That should do for now, but if you have a suggestion I will take it under consideration.

With the forum server issues of late, this is kind of on hold.....I don't want to tax the system until it is stable again. I shall continue this after the server move and the sites are stable again.

I hope the patches category is not abused.

If an author releases version 1.0 and later creates a 1.1 patch, it needs to be attached to the original page to make it easy to find and recognize that a new version is available. If it is a compatibility patch created by a different author, I can understand why it could be hosted separately to maintain control over that file but I'd recommend contacting the author to see if s/he will also host the file on their mod page (again, to make it easy for the mod users to notice the file even exists)

I put in a feature request to help alleviate such problems by associating different mods together such as being related due to dependency, patch, re-tex, etc. The author of the other file can still retain full editing control over their upload and it can become visible on the associated mod to make it easy for those mod users to notice that other files related to that mod are available. I do not know if or when such a feature would be approved/created but it could be very handy.

Also, a mod to a mod does not make it automatically a patch. If an author creates a plugin to correct a CTD in another mod, that could be considered a patch. But if an author creates a plugin to change how another mod implemented something (changed stats/enchants/levels), then this is just a change...not a patch.

I'd also like to point out that many mods contain weapons, armor, quests and pieces from multiple categories but for buddah or myself to move a mod from an existing category into a new one, we have to understand the crux of the mod. Lost Paladins of the Divines is a perfect example. It has weapons, male/female armor, creatures, FX, new models/textures, items, etc. So what individual (split) category does it fall under? Should people expect to find it in Models and Textures, Weapons, Armor, Creatures or Quests? It fits all of them. The main attraction / showcase however is the armor. So if that mod can only exist in one category, it would be the Armor category. The Search Tags further clarify the content inside the mod so you get a much clearer understanding of what's in-the-box. If the mod description is not obvious and search tags not configured, you might have to actually play the mod in order to determine what the crux of the mod is...which can take time. Even then it is somewhat subjective based on what the person feels is the centerpiece of the mod. Some people like Lost Paladins for the quest and creature battles, others for the storyline, others for the weapons and still yet others for the armor.

Quick update, I have finished with weapons and armor, ....I may have missed placing a few, but it should be a little more organized than before. The mods other than in english were a particular challenge but interesting to do, some jewels in those as well.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

Working on items, objects and clothes.....about at the midway point now.

    Thanks for your input.

Edit: 28 July, 10:30pm Clothing is pretty much done, working on items and objects still separating player and world items.

I shall consider splitting some catagories more when I have been through the current ones at least once. So you understand this, each file page is loaded, description read before it may be moved. Then if it is moved the file page may need to be edited and changed due to new naming conventions and required fields that were not present when the file was originally uploaded or updated this is quite time consuming and labor intensive. I can do a few hundred views a day during the week and about a thousand on a weekend more than that and my eyes bleed and my ears leak and I cower under my computer desk.

This is my summer project, it won't be done over night but it will get done. I have been through buildings and companions to date and am working on weapons and armor presently. Most of the mods hosted here are by members who are no longer active or never read the front page or forums so it falls to me to complete this task. I knew the time requirements going in and accepted it. Been through about 20 percent so far, in a week....end of summer is quite an attainable goal.

Nice on the new categories <img class=">, but honestly, does anyone ever get tired of just browsing for male or female armor? I think that in the browse section, there should be Male Armors, Female Armors, and Both Male and Female Armors. Same for clothing, although who really browses that? xD

Try the tag search function. Not all armors are tagged, but many are. Clothing is not separated yet though.

Great stuff, I always noticed that the armor/weapons category got tiresome to search through. I am sure this will help out a lot.

Thanks for keeping up with the site and all the mods.

Congratulations on a job well done. This has obviously taken an incredible amount of time and effort. I can well believe that this will take the entire summer to fine tune.

Until today I hadn't explored the tags much and I am not quite clear on how exactly they work but I will learn.

Thank you to the team for continuing to make this site easier to use.

Wait, I've just remembered something. Isn't there is a Tag Search in the Nexus ? Using the tag search, we can easily find a mod specific what we want. So, what is the use of new categories ?

Well, maybe easier to find something, but tag search is all I needed. I don't know if anyone need it too.

I'd like to suggest separating the weapons section a bit. ie: 1hand swords, 2hand swords, hammers, staffs, axes, daggers, etc, etc.
