Fallout 3 Nexus launches

  • Comment
This is just a quick one for all the users of TESNexus who are going to be buying Fallout 3 that I have just launched Fallout 3 Nexus to the public. The hope is for FO3Nexus to be to Fallout 3 modding what TESNexus is to Oblivion modding.

If you're going to be playing Fallout 3, hope to mod the game or if you're interested, head on over to the site now for a peek at what's to come. Of course the site is rather bare at the moment, what with the game not actually officially released for a few more hours and the lack of an SDK for the game, but give it some time. Oh, and go make yourself known in the Fallout 3 section of the forums too!

PS. Your TESNexus username and password will work on Fallout 3 Nexus without any problems! So don't register a new account for the site!

    LuciferTDark,

I saw Far Cry 2, and I wanted it badly, more so than FO3, but the system requirements were just too high. I need to upgrade my power supply and video card. Fallout 3 was a lot more reasonable, and it plays great as long as I play it in a somewhat low resolution with the extra effects turned off.

On that note, Oblivion works at its highest setting on my computer, no lag, no slowdown. Why must Fallout 3 be more demanding? That, I don't understand. The SDK isn't important to me until I beat the game and run out of stuff to do. If the SDK isn't released by then, I'll be a bit disappointed, but I'll still have other means to edit the game.

I had the chance to buy this game just yesterday & I chose not to in favour of Far Cry2, why? because it comes with an editor right from the start. I may buy Fallout 3 after an editor or sdk are released but not before.

On that note, MasterChief-whatever number-, the PC version of a game is usually better than the console version, mainly because the PC version is released later. This is not the case with Morrowind, which was easily modified, even on the Xbox. Also, I do not wish the PC version of any future Bethesda game to be lacking any features found in its console counterpart.

Fallout 3 will no doubt be one of the best games of the year but it might have a hard time facing gears of war 2 which the first gears took a lot of awards from oblivion so I think today people are looking for games with more multiplayer I'm not saying that bethesda should make huge mmo's but coop would be really cool. Well I'm only speaking for the xbox version so it might be a different story with the pc version.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Fallout series but I think that this is a great move. It shows that you think and care about our needs and wants (by making the sites parallel I mean) and you could really go far in this kind of venture.
I am a fan of Flight simulator however (God forbid!) and I also understand that you have a life but I see so many games like that (and of different genres) that have such a great modding potential, without great modding sites to do them justice.
I mean, TES Nexus is a marvel because it's free and it offers this kind of quality and reliability. So, I would just like to see it go further. Of course, it may be too much for you to handle without sitting in front of a computer screen all day but just let us know your views n' stuff. =]

I've been anticipating this move for some time now, it's good to see it realized. I'd like to offer my thanks for the account compatibility between the two sites as well, definitely a smart move.

I've pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of FO3, so after playing it through you may see me doing some modding for it since I've already pulled out of Oblivion modding altogether.

As for the uncertainty of an SDK, I'm pretty sure I could pull off some mods with user made tools as well if it comes to that.

    I like the lime green.

Well, I guess I'll have to give FO3 a try. It might be a blessing in disguise that there's no SDK for it as yet. It'll force people to run through the vanilla game at least once as they intended it. Maybe that's their thinking on this one.
