New Feature: Image Sharing!

Hi folks,

I've been working over the past couple of days on a new addition to the site focusing on user uploaded images for ES games. Titled "Image Share", this new section allows any and all members of the site to upload their Elder Scrolls related pictures to the site to share with others. Users can comment and rate images in the database in the same way users can comment and rate files in the file database.

This feature can be used for anything you wish; showing off your character, providing beta screenshots for your current mod project or just to share something you thought looked cool. As the database gets populated with images and ratings I'll be adding a new feature to the front page of TESSource much in kin to typical "Picture of the Day" of "Featured Picture" features on other sites.

As with all new features on TESSource the system is in a beta stage and you folks are the beta testers so if you come across anything odd or any errors please file a bug report! If you have any suggestions for improvements (if it's a search feature to look for images uploaded by specific authors don't worry, it's coming) then let yourself be heard. I can't add it if you don't let me know!

    I would suggest a General Elder Scrolls category, which would probably also be a better default than Arena.

    pff i first had awesome pictures but now my comp got reinstalled cause i needed new stuff inside it <img class=">
    and now you guys remembered me that i forgot to put my movies and pictures on a cd :s

    good idea, LOVE IT. but, is there a set limit to how many files you can upload? and also, what about spoilers? i personally wouldn't upload any, but other people may, so maybe you could have a section for spoiler pics. which reminds me, after a while, there will be A LOT of pics up, so maybe if you were to add catagories that you could upload your images into.

    Yes, but why have thumbnails in the first place if you aren't going to use them in the way that everyone expects? Besides, this is image share --- not image metadata share. The amount of screen real-estate that metadata takes up in that main view is completely disproportionate to what a user's priorities are.

    It might be possible to enlarge the image slightly on the image info page, but clicking the Click to enlarge link or thumbnail on the image info page will give you the full size image.

    When I click on an image thumbnail, the window that shows up has an even smaller thumbnail --- not so much a bug as something that runs pretty contrary to user expectations given what happens in other cases where the thumbnail format is used.

    Maybe you could rearrange things a bit so that the image takes up the most horizontal space as it possibly can (or even just blow it up to full-size; people expect some horizontal scrolling when they're looking through big images) and put all the image data below it? No idea what you could do with the rate image pane if you go that route, though...
