World of Tanks mods in NMM

  • Comment
In the latest beta version (0.18.x) of the Nexus Mod Manager we have added support for World of Tanks modding, including mods and skins. Anything that you’d normally put in the res_mods folder, NMM can handle and World of Tanks Nexus can download.

If you’re new to the Nexus or Nexus Mod Manager, NMM is a desktop tool that downloads the mods and skins you like directly from the Nexus sites and installs them with a click of a button. No faffing about with archive programs like WinRAR and 7zip, NMM will handle it all. On-top of that, NMM will keep track of all your downloaded mods to ensure you’re aware of new versions, and will also let you know if any new mods and skins you are installing are overwriting any mods you already have installed, so you can pick and choose what changes mods make to your game. All you have to do is download and install NMM, and use the “Download with Manager” buttons on the mods and skins you’d like to download.

If you’re a mod author you need to be aware that you need to package your mods in a specific way in order for your mod to work off-the-bat with NMM. A lot of mod authors place their files in the root folder of the mod archive, relying on users to work out where exactly they need to place the files contained in the archive. In order for mods to work with NMM you need to package your mods so that they contain the proper folder structure after the res_mods.7.3 folder. In order to install a skin for the Tiger I, for example, you have to archive your skin file so that it contains the folder structure vehiclesgermanG04_PzVI_Tiger_I , and this is where you would place your PzVl_Tiger_I.dds file. I have already spoken to many of the prominent skinners uploading their files and they are happily changing their archiving structure to accommodate this simple change (this change also makes things easier for those people who like to install their mods and skins manually), and I’ve been busy rearchiving a lot of the files on the site. If you’re confused by this change, how it works and why you need to do it please let me know and I’ll be happy to explain it.

NMM is being used by over 600,000 Nexus members, and rising every day with support for World of Tanks, Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. We are constantly improving the support we’re providing to modders on the Nexus sites and through NMM, and best of all, NMM is completely open source, so you know exactly what you’re installing on your computer. Modders share their work with the world; we think it’s pretty rude to not share our work with you.

If you need any support, just let us know.
