About this mod

Alternative version that removes the journal quest entries from Welcome Home, which contains 28 lore-friendly/immersive player homes.

Permissions and credits
Many have complained about the many entries that can flood your journal in the wonderful player house mod Welcome Home, by stormless. The mod author gave a commenter the go-ahead to post their own edited version without journal entries, since they couldn't keep up with maintenance. Seeing this for the first time after several months had passed, I became doubtful that the No Journal Entries version was coming, so I did it myself (perhaps a bit presumptuously. I will take any necessary action if the mod author requests it.)

All I did was open it up in OpenMW-CS (this is a much more accessible software on Linux,) delete all the added Journal Info entries, and rename the files from ".omwaddon" to ".esp". I've tested it a decent amount in OpenMW and ensured basic functionality was working in Vanilla. I see no reason why it shouldn't fully work as intended. All 3 versions are included in a single download -- they're small enough files to justify it. Make sure you only use one of the three included .esp files!

As of now, don't ask me for added features or any special patches. What I did to make this was not very impressive, and I don't know much about Morrowind mod creation -- I just read some basic documentation about how the journal works and deleted some stuff.

I take no credit or ownership for anything in this mod. All of it goes to stormless. Again, I just deleted some entries, nothing special. I will provide the original description by the mod author below:

Welcome Home

What is this thing?

This mod adds a total of 28 dwellings immersively tucked into the existing world. Everything fits into the lore to the best of my ability. There are no large estates or manor houses, and everything must be earned fromthe person(s) selling/trading. To get started, go to the town you'd like to buy a house in, and look for a door with a Notice of Sale stuck to it. Most towns can also help you get started in the right direction if you talk to people about latest rumors.

More details?

Towns included are: Ald Velothi, Ald'ruhn, Balmora, Caldera, Dagon Fel, Ebonheart, Fort Frostmoth, Gnaar Mok, Gnisis, Hla Oad, Khuul, Maar Gan, Molag Mar, Mournhold, Pelagiad, Sadrith Mora, Seyda Neen, Skaal Village,Suran, Tel Aruhn, Tel Branora, Tel Mora, Tel Vos, Urshilaku Camp, Vivec, and Vos.

Locations notably excluded: Tel Fyr, Thirsk, and the non-Urshilaku Ashlander camps.

More details?!?

The included readme file has a full run-down of how much, who sells the house or how it's earned, and where they are located. There are a few little details beyond that to increase flavor and give the homes more depth.

Compatibility

This mod was extensively tested with Morrowind Rebirth 5.0 and was intended to be fully compatible. That said, it may be very incompatible with mods that add other external structures to the landscape in/around towns.

Thanks!

Many thanks to those who have kept the Morrowind modding scene alive since Ilast made a mod in 2003 or so. And thank you to darkelfguy for his video series that got me back into modding at all, and whose housing video inspired one of the homes in this mod.
