Guide to doing the 'Back Path'
Features
- Alternate dialogue from Dagoth Ur when greeting the player if they haven't done the "Nerevarine and Hortator" quests and are carrying Yagrum's jury-rigged Wraithguard. He does not call out to you, nor call you 'Nerevar', but he will still ask if you are him, to which you can directly refute if you choose.
- Azura does not show up in the end of the MQ.
- The Blight is gone, but the Ghostfence remains closed, due to the Temple's confusion and cautiousness.
- The player is not referred to as 'Nerevarine' by NPCs upon completing the MQ this way.
- Alternate dialogue from varying groups of NPCs when talking about [Nerevarine], [Dagoth Ur], [Ghostfence], etc. Some unique, MQ-related characters will have their own responses.
-Modified 'little secrets' and 'latest rumors' regarding the Nerevarine to not be spoken after completing the game this way.
- Sleeper agents will still be cured of their soul sickness.
- Caius goes aways, presumebly called back to Cyrodiil, and so do the False Incarnates (if the player already met them before doing the Back Path anyways, presumebly called back by Azura.)
Installation
- Install with your favorite mod manager or extract the .ESP file and place in your game's Data Folder.
- Open the launch window and the enable the ESP.
- If using DNGDR, install the 'DNGDR' version, load the ESP below 'DN-GDRv1.2.esp.'
Minor Notes/Optional Read
- For testing on a new character, type in console: Journal BB_DestroyDagoth 50, as well as AddTopic for the following; Dagoth Ur, Nerevarine, and Ghostfence, then start talking to people. There are other topics but you may find those naturally. The point is to see whether the mod works.
- Mod does NOT function for characters that already beat the game. If installing, start a new game.
- Dialogue was added for two characters in Mournhold, but I didn't bother expanding further into the DLC due to Almalexia and Azura having their own voiced lines calling you Nerevarine. Approach my mod with a little lenience when playing Tribunal.
- Destroying the heart as a Non-Nerevarine unlocks an alternate quest stage that's necessary for all the new dialogue to show up, meaning any post-game content from factions or added by mods will remain locked off. If you wish to change this, type in console: Journal C3_DestroyDagoth 50. This is not guaranteed to completely undo the changes made, as the new responses take priorty over old ones.
