A basic drop in replacer of the vanilla candle models, combining lighting and material improvements from Improved Lights for All Shaders, and the realistic candle flames from Enlightened Flames.
- Permissions and credits
The base candle models come from Improved Lights for All Shaders by Hemaris, which fix the model materials to glow properly, and position the centre of the light source for a more natural illumination.
The billboard candle flames come from Enlightened Flames by Reizeron/Greatness7, an MWSE mod that seamlessly replaces the candle flame on all candle models with an improved billboard mesh.
I've just spliced the billboard mesh onto the ILFAS models that use candle flames, removed the NiLookAtController nodes that cause warning messages in the OpenMW logs, and packaged them here as a simple drop in mesh replacer. There is an existing Enlightened Flames patcher for OpenMW made by wazabear, but a few have had difficulty with making it work, so hopefully this mod can be a useful alternative for any who needed something more basic.
This will work correctly on all current versions of OpenMW, but lacking a key feature from the original MWSE version. This forced the candle flame billboards in the candle model to always point upwards, even when the candle is being held at an angle. A feature unsupported in OpenMW at the time.
However, this appears to have been fixed in the development builds of OpenMW version 0.49, as the screenshot above illustrates. This test was run on the Nexusmods OpenMW 0.49 download, so I assume all newer builds of 0.49 will have this fix as well.
Installation is simple, just unzip the files into your Data Files\ folder.
.nif files should end up in Meshes\l\
.dds files should end up in Textures\R0\
