Version 1.0
Initial Release
"The Beacons of Mamaea line the cliff walls of the Foyada of the same name. They serve as an alarm network for Vvardenfell should the fortress of Ghostgate, or any of the Great Ossuaries of the Ghostfence come under siege from the horrors of Red Mountain. While a messenger mage could carry such a warning instantaneously to Vvardenfell's leaders, the Beacons can in mere minutes alert all of the island's western population core of an emergency. In the event that the Beacons are ever set ablaze, the Temple, House Redoran, and even House Hlaalu, have all sworn to send reserve forces to Ghostgate to aid in its defense. The Telvanni have made no such pledge, but on the other hand the Beacons are not even visible from their lands except for on the absolute clearest of days. Most of the Beacons are served by the Beacon Keepers, a small, reclusive contingent of the Tribunal Temple, that maintain this beacon network. Only the Vivec City Beacon is an exception to this rule, being manned by the Ordinators instead, in their regular defense routines of the city."
This mod is heavily inspired by the Warning Beacons of Gondor from Lord of the Rings, which themselves were likely inspired by the real world Byzantine Beacon System in Medieval Anatolia. While this mod adds no new quests, it does have a small scripted interaction with Morrowind's Main Quest. The Beacons are unlit at the start of the game. After the player has met with Vivec, the Beacons will be lit, and the flames will only be doused after the player has defeated Dagoth ur.
1. Install all of the files to your Morrowind Directory.
2. If you use MGE XE and Distant Lights OAAB patched and improved, regenerate your distant land and when creating distant statics add TheBeaconsOfMamaea.ovr from the mge3 to your list of overrides.
