Introduction:
An Altmer Hero from Cyrodil has arrived at the temple in Molag Mar. He is rumored to be a born under the Daedric birthsign of Hermaus Mora,  and arms himself with a boon from his Daedric lord: the Primordial Gray Aegis. Before leaving for Cyrodil, he is currently offering to sell various "priceless" shields.
Many years ago in Vvardenfell, magical shields were forged during forbidden ceremonies for Malacath, Azura, Boehtiah, and others. A living sacrifice was given to the Daedra, who claimed the sacrificial soul, but granted them remarkable powers during their mortal lives. In addition, great magical shields were granted as a boon to these individuals during the ceremony.
Removed from their ceremony as well as their boon, those born under the Daedric birthsigns are rumored to roam the lands in search of their Daedric boon, usually spirited away and sold as loot by the priests of the dark ceremony.

Goal of this mod:
This is intended as a companion mod for Daedric Birthsigns, however that mod is NOT required to run Ritual Shields of the Daedra.
Create new shields for each daedric prince(16), with abilities that correspondingly accentuate the playstyle of the mod Daedric Birthsigns. An attempt was made to make each shield interesting and topical for it's prince, while also offering balance to the difficult nature (elemental weaknesses, attribute damaging) of the birthsigns mod. The Daedric birthsign mod is not required, but keep in mind these shields are over-tuned to compensate for Daedric Birthsigns, Hardcore Mode, MMDD, and other modern mods.

The New Shields:
All sixteen of these Daedric ritual shields have unique abilities and enchantments. Not all of them are positive, and the most powerful will also have great drawbacks. Besides the shields of Mora and Boehtiah, the others have generally lower equipment health, and will need to be swapped out or repaired as necessary. All of these shields except the Primordial Gray Aegis may be purchased. The mythical Gray Aegis is not for sale, and must be won by combat or other nefarious means.

1) Ancient Rock Slab of Boehtiah: greatshield made of stone. Very heavy, but provides peerless defense. Boosts block, poison, and magic defense.
2) Shield of Ash and Fire: golden roundshield with decorative inlay, perfect for warriors of Malacath. Ash curse befalls the wearer, however stamina recovery, block and magic defense are boosted.
3) Shield of Bitter Betrayal: a native insect adorns this shield of Mephala. Subtly betrays its master, but provides protection from cold, and a slow-jump ability like a pouncing spider.
4) Miridia's Coat of Stars: ebony ore shield painted black with a coat of stars. Purifies the body and protects greatly against the mundane, but lowers defense of armor and willpower.
5) Vile Contract of Reprisal: small roundshield with Telvanni design. Reprises damage by reflecting magic, provides protection from harm, yet others will be offended by your worship.
6) False Idol of Sanguine: an odd scene unfolds upon this shield. Blocks extremely poorly, but provides protection from elements and regenerates your magicka.
7) Primordial Gray Aegis: grey towershield with a simple design. Unimaginable magic and physical protection at the expense of draining enchanting skill and intelligence.
8) Distinguished Hunters Shield: a crest of a two-headed griffon adorns this lightweight shield of Hircine. Boosts swim and run speed. as well as fire resistance, but resists the powers of destructive magic.
9) Lucid Dreamshield: purple swirls adorn this towershield, protection for followers of Vaermina. Life-draining curse, but transports its wearer into a lucid dream of flight and illusions.
10) Masser Moonshield: a roundshield depicting the moon Masser on the outside. incredible protection from frost and magic, slows descent into a moonfall. Provides magicka when equipped.
11) Nebulous Voidshield: garish-colored shield with enchantments to help Nocturnal's adherants. heals damage from sun exposure, helps detect keys and enchantments. Damages mysticism and strength.
12) Lunar Heartshield: a grusome depiction of a divine heart, fitting for the forbidden Daedra lord Namira. Greatly boosts enchanting, heals health and magicka. People will find you repulsive. This shield may break easily.
13) Silver and Rust Buckler: a fanciful silver design hides the rust back of this small roundshield. Become poisoned, but if somehow not killed will discover fantastic sanctuary and defenses.
14) Soul Slab of Molag Bal: rough, giant slab of soul gem with dangerous enchantments. Curses and freezes its wearer in many ways, but provides incredible protection from fire, magic absorption, and boosts strength.
15) Spiked Shield of Dagon: a sturdy, spiked shield that helps Dagonites in battle. Be despised by all before you, but short blade and destruction are greatly boosted, as well as shock resistance.
16) Mad Visage of Sheogorath: small roundshield depicting the Daedra lord of madness. Intelligence and security are damaged, but alchemy and shock resistance are boosted. A bit of magic absorption.

Additionally, a daedric towershield is available for purchase.

Interaction with Daedric Birthsigns mod:
While playing a character born under a Daedric birthsign, some of the large weaknesses can be overcome to some degree with their corresponding shields. Large resistances to cold damage for Azura, fire damage for Molag Bal, magical resistance for Mora, and normal weapon resistance for Miridia.
Equipping Peryite's Silver and Rust shield will poison the wearer, but an Argonian would be immune to this damage. Redguards are 75% resistant to poison, so they could easily overcome this effect with a spell.
Those born under Azura will find the Masser Moonshield has a unique effect after casting their skill "Afterglow Aplenty," creating a secondary, smaller pool of magicka to use for a while before it disappears. The fire damage needs to be accounted for with the proper resist spells or equipment.
The Molag Bal birthsign playthroughs will appreciate the Soul Slab shield, which when used in conjunction with their skill "Common Carnality," will restore a smaller amount of strength for a brief period. Remember to account for the cold damage with spells and equipment.
