Roadmarkers
by ddfields
ver. 1.0

These are the stone markers that most everyone just passes by and pays little to no attention to. I got curious about the markers and found that each marker is exactly the same. When you go up to a maker, as shown in the one screenshot, you will see the name of the city where it resides, but what the daedric letters spell out is the word "Welcome". So in this project, I set out to change all the roadmarkers to read exactly what it displays when you activate them-meaning you get close enough for the name to display.

I updated the textures, using a smooth stone texture from DK!_Got textures resource, found here at Planet Elder Scrolls. The daedric alphabet is done by Steve Deffeyes (aka dongle) and his read-me file is included. Although he did give free use of the alphabet, I did still try to reach him for confirmation, but was unsuccesful. The letters were done in an engraved method, giving it the look of being chiseled out or stamped into the stone.. The engraved stone also contains copper, which gives it it's distinctive look.

You will notice that I have added some new roadmarkers to areas that previously had none and have no other identifying banners or markers, so you will see roadmarkers now at

  • Dagon Fel - one at each road into city (east and west)
  • Caldera - one at each entrance (north and south)
  • Pelagiad - one at the north village road and one at the south main entrance
  • Seyda Neen - one near the small bridge to the north, one near the siltrider port
  • I also placed a roadmarker at Ebonheart for the same reason and since it sort of a city onto itself.

To help travellers read the markers at night, each has it's own torch to light it and make it more visible at a distance.
