Introduction


Morag Tong is my favourite guild. Sadly, it's very underdevelloped.

As soon as the original thrill of being a legal assassin wears off, we are left with rather bland quests, mostly undistinguishable one from another. You don't even need to be sneaky or have any other assassin-related skills for their completion. Targets are either meekly waiting for their doom or starting a fight with you, not trying to prevent their death in any creative or interesting ways.

This is a shame, because a lot of target's locations have huge potentials as if they were designed with sneak chalenges and alternative passages in mind. Back door in Saren Manor and sewers in Hlormaren, are asking to be used. But there is no reason for the player to explore them instead of just rushing straight ahead.

Description

This mod overhauls the majority of Morag Tong writs, making them more interesting and unique experience with non-linear gameplay. Every affected quest was carefully enchanced, based on the characters affilation with different factions and already existent elements in level design. Through changes in locations, new scripts and dialogues these features were achieved:

  • New challenges. The targets of the writs are not gently waiting for you to come and kill them. They are using various methods to hinder you and save themselves, often more creative than just direct combat.
  • New opportunities. Interacting with the targets and the environments they are in, can open ways to complete the writ with less troubles: catch the target unawared ending their life with a single strike of a blade, evade unnecessary combat with target's allies and just perform the writ without anyone noticing. 
  • Relevance of skills. Both taking advantage of opportunities and overcomming the challenges require the appropriate Morag Tong and Assassin's related skills, such as Sneak, Acrobatics and Security.

Compatibility

Version 1.0 was made with advanced compatibility in mind. Existing quest giving and accepting dialogues were not affected, thus it should be compatible with mods that change the way these quests are distributed among guildhalls, like Morag Tong Polished.

Future versions, starting from 2.0, are going to affect it as I want to provide some conditons and rewards for executing writs. I'll still do my best to keep more compatible version up to date and bug free.

Requirements and recommendations

Morag Tong Secret Identity - a soft requirement. Morag Tong Writs were made with it in mind but the mod is still playable without it, even though some dialogues will become unavailable.

Stealth Improved - better stealth mechanics for all the new reasons to be more sneaky
Skillful Sneaking - another improvement for stealth mechanics. The ability to jump, while sneaking will be handy in some quests.
Sneaky Strike - more reasons to use daggers while takind advantage of all the new opportunities to kill the targets sneakily
Nimble Armor - use your light armor to evade attacks
