What does this mod do?
Adds twenty seven perpetually-lit light sources: lanterns, torches, and candles in various light source colors. Available for purchase from a new merchant NPC in the smuggler's den Addamasartus, Lady Shadowflame. These new light sources last as long as the Pilgrim's Lantern, which is 32-in game years. They are based on vanilla light sources, but differ in their flame color, perpetuality, and light radius.
In addition, our best customers can look forward to fourteen new luxurious lanterns, each with outstanding, upgraded light radii and excellent white noise sound emission, serious price enquiries only. Taste in sound is subjective, but an attempt was made to find sound effects that are thematic without being too annoying.
If you are updating this mod from a previous version and are loading a saved game, please see the section on how to load a new inventory for a merchant NPC to purchase these new items from Lady Shadowflame.
These new light sources are intended to add ambience to your dungeon diving, witch hunting, and/or prophecy fulfilling.
Compatibility
Adds a new NPC to Addamasartus.
Version 0.44 adds unique icons for 17 of these new light sources. Needs the included icons and meshes folders loaded into data files.
Conspicuous Consumption
Show off your wealth with the dwemer, copper gem, or ebony lantern. Scare off those nosy village commoners with a necromancer or skull lantern. Add soothing ambience to your home or Vivec apartment with a storm or druid lantern. Impress your neighbors with a lava or flame lantern on the patio, or a frost lantern during a hot ash storm. Nothing soothes the nerves after a long day hearing cliff racer screams like a quiet prayer next to a daedra or Azura star lantern. Even orthodox Nocturnal worshipers would appreciate the Torch of Nocturnal, extending an indigo illumination far into the darkness.
How to load a new inventory for Lady Shadowflame☠️
If updating this mod to v0.43, you may want to update the NPC inventory for Lady Shadowflame in order to obtain these lanterns without spawning them in the console. The only way I know to do that is to attack and kill Lady Shadowflame, pull up the console, point and click on the dead NPC, type resurrect, and then press enter. She will respawn with the new lanterns in her inventory.
Soothing Sounds
The 14 luxurious lanterns each have a scripted sound effect, for example the lava lantern sounds like lava, the copper gem lantern has a magic crystal sound, and the druid lantern has a swamp sound. If you set down one of the new luxurious lanterns, the sound will emit from the lantern on the spot you set it down. If you pick up the lantern after setting it down, the noise will continue in that spot until the area is cleared. It may be possible to just leave the area and come back to clear the noise after picking it up. This is what happens for me when I test this mod, but I have my other mod Prodigious Respawn running, which may speed this up.
