About this Mod:
This mod adds tweaks to the "Death of a Taxman" quest in Seyda Neen. Despite having two apparent paths, the vanilla version really has only one solution that would finish the quest, so I fleshed out the Foryn Gilnith path to be somewhat more meaningful.

  • Quest will end when player agrees to keep Foryn Gilnith's secret. He gives the player an alternate reward, and flees Seyda Neen (player can find him with his new like-minded friends in Hla Oad).
  • To make going back and forth between the office and town a little easier, the door exiting the Census and Excise office from the room with Socucius Ergalla will be unlocked after starting either this quest or Fargoth's quest (originally I just wanted the door to open after the tutorial, but the tutorial doesn't end with a journal entry so this gets the job done for our purposes).
  • Exploit to get 700 gold by killing Foryn Gilnith before reporting the murder is no longer possible--player has to give money back before reporting the execution of Foryn.
  • Other small tweaks, including the guards of Seyda Neen giving a more appropriate response to the report of a murder, and Processus's body being removed after reporting it to Socucius Ergalla.

This mod has been tested and cleaned with tes3cmd. That said, I'm still fairly new to modding, so let me know if you encounter any bugs or anything.

About the "Choice and Consequence" Mod Series:
Vanilla Morrowind quests generally offer less choice, and less consequence for choices made, than mod projects such as Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel-affiliated mods, not to mention the later Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. The result for me is that despite a desire to go back to the TES3 vision of Tamriel, it's hard to go back to Vvardenfell's quests without wondering what could be. What if I could approach this quest in another way or side with someone else? What if NPCs reacted more to my actions, or my factions gave me exclusive options?
And so, this series is an attempt to systematically go through the vanilla game's side quests, and give them some lore-friendly vanilla-plus-style expansions.
There are other mods out there that tweak vanilla content, but I haven't seen any attempts to comprehensively go through everything. I can't claim for sure I will either, but I will until I get bored at least. I still have plenty to learn after all.

Permissions:
Mods I make are in general free to use without prior permission, but please use common sense. That is, try to credit when feasible, don't claim it's yours, etc.
