About this mod

This mod attempts to expand the spear playstyle by adding new spear variants, creating "javelin" versions of spears for throwable spears, and adjusting halberds stats. These weapons were placed in-game by adding them to leveled lists and the Orc smith from Suran.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES
Adds javelins, adds new stat-adjusted halberds, and adds other new spear variants. Added to the world via loot lists so that they can be encountered throughout your travels. Be wary of skeletons throwing javelins, or ashlanders attacking you with an exquisite chitin spear. Javelins are powerful weapons that may or may not break once thrown. They are based on vanilla spears in the game, and are a heavier but more powerful throwing alternative. If the person hit by the javelin survives, they may throw it right back where it came from!
Based on the in-game description for spears, the Bosmer have developed their own martial spear technique. This mod plays with that idea by adding four Bosmer spears. The Green Pact prohibits the use of plants, including wood, so these spears are made of materials like bone, obsidian, dreugh, and glass. They have 2 useful attacks: a quick chop attack, and a powerful slash attack that requires a full windup. Instead of thrust only, the Bosmer martial spears will mix up the mid game play-style. At level 5 and later Ashlanders may attack you with Bosmer martial spears, or an exquisite chitin spear.
Three new spears have high enchant capacity, but low weapon health: ancient ebony, ancient falmer, and gem halberd.
A chitin exquisite spear has been added as well, identical to its vanilla base weapon but with higher damage.

COMPATIBILITY
Adds new items, does not replace any vanilla items.
Changes inventory of Garothmuk gro-Muzgub.
Makes additions to these loot lists: l_n_wpn_melee_spear, l_n_wpn_missle_thrown, random ashlander weapon, random_de_weapon, random_loot_special_marksman, and random_steel_weapon.

Version 1.45
This update introduces unique models and icons to the seven spears introduced in this mod: Bosmer martial spears, ancient falmer and ebony, and the Gem Halberd (ID is Dwarven Lance).
Reverts random_iron_weapon to it's original status. Makes minor edits to the other leveled lists so that Bosmer martial spears appear with ashlanders after level 5, most items show up at level 5 on other lists, and the daedric items were moved to level 15.
Minor edits to the stats of the Ancient spears so that they have a high enchantment capacity, but low weapon health.
Changed Dwemer Lance name to Gem Halberd with accompanying model and icon art. Adjusted stats so that it has unique capabilities.

Serendipitous Spears 1.35:
This update fixes the name of the Bosmer Glass Spear in the leveled melee weapon list.
Main download is for OpenMW.
An optional ESP download available for non-OpenMW users.
Serendipitous Spears 1.25:
This mod makes the following changes to the base game:
1) New spear variants: Chitin Exquisite Spear, Ancient Falmer Spear, Dwarven Exquisite Halberd, Ancient Ebony Spear, and four new Bosmer spear-weapons: bone, obsidian, glass, and dreugh. The Bosmer spears are quite different than their counterparts. Their damage stats are unusual, and they are a bit slower (animation  and artwork from staves was used.)
2) New throwable weapons: all spears now have a "javelin" counterpart. Wooden and Chitin javelins will be the cheapest and most abundant. Throwing axes (iron up to daedric) and Atmoran Throwing Swords were added as well.
3) Halberd stats adjusted: damage has been adjusted according to the weapon design. Iron, Steel, Dwarven, and Glass Halberds are now Halberd Spears. With my mod Badaxxery, you will now have spear and axe versions of these halberd weapons. Without Badaxxery, you will have both the original Halberds and the new ones from this mod.
4) These weapons have been placed in the leveled lists to appear naturally throughout Morrowind. All of the throwing weapons (except daedric/ebony) are available at the Orc smith in Suran. Other merchants will randomly have some of these items. Daedric javelin and ebony javelin have been placed in the loot special marksman list (not the random daedric weapon list). Most of these weapons follow a tiered level list up to level 14, at which point all of these weapons are available.

Notes: If your javelin (or thrown weapon) hits an NPC, they survive, and it does not "break", ie you could recover it as loot, the NPC may throw your javelin right back at you! Thrown weapons are counted under the "Marksman" skill for progression.

This mod is .omwaddon, which is compatible with Open MW. You can change the file type to .ESP for vanilla or non-OpenMW.
