Tiber Boxing League

Ladies and gentlemen, the Tiber Boxing Council is proud to bring you the 3E 427 season of the Tiber Boxing League!  Morrowind is hosting this year’s season on Vvardenfell at the ancient Dunmer strongholds throughout the island.  Do you have what it takes to knock the kwama cuttle out of your competitors and win the coveted Tiber Belt, or will you fall like just another scrib?  Contact a Tiber Boxing Council affiliate to sign up today!

This mod adds a hand-to-hand only tournament.  Go head to head against ten seasoned fighters, and complete five training exercises your coach thinks will make you a better fighter.  Take away the armor, the potions, the enchantments you've come to rely on, and you're left with your two fists against your opponents two fists.

Features
  • 10 hand-to-hand matches against fighters from across Tamriel.
-- 8 regular season fights, with 2 additional fights if you qualify.
-- 5 Possible endings depending on your record.
-- Watch your competitors in their own fights.  Before each of your fights, you can watch your competitors fight at two other stronghold arenas.
The venues rotate, so look for the spectators to know which ones are hosting a match.
  • 5 training exercises with your coach.
-- Your coach has some unconventional exercises for you to undertake in between your matches.
  • Roch Broles, legendary boxing coach…ehrm, respected boxing…ok, he isn’t a very good coach but give him a try.

To Start
Find Roch Broles at Broles' Boxing Gym north of Vivec, near Piernette's Farmhouse. He will sign you up for the League.

Requirements
-- Morrowind
– Tribunal
– Bloodmoon
– Morrowind Code Patch (MCP)*

*MCP is needed because it fixes the GetEffect function to correctly detect fatigue related functions.

Installation
- Extract contents into your Data Files folder.

Compatibilities and Incompatibilities

Compatibility
  • OpenMW, as long as OpenMW fixes the GetEffect bugs that are corrected by Morrowind Code Patch.
It is my understanding that the GetEffect bug is fixed in OpenMW.

Incompatibilities
  • Mods that add permanent fortify attribute, fortify attribute, or sanctuary effects.  You will not be allowed in the fights.  See ReadMe for more information. If you have a mod you know adds an effect that cannot be removed, I recommend playing this mod first.

**  Patches for popular birthsign mods are coming.  There is a carveout for the vanilla birthsigns that add permanent fortify attribute and I will do the                same for birthsign mods.  **

  • Mods that make unarmored hand-to-hand combat deal physical damage.

  • This mod alters the following exterior cells.  May not be compatible with mods that alters the same cells:
– Hlormaren
– Andasreth
– Falensarano
– Marandus
– Falasmaryon
– Telasero
– Azura Coast Region 14, -9 (Indoranyon)
– Berandus
– Rotheran
– Valenvayron
– Ascadian Isles Region 4, 8
– Mount Assarnibibi

Notes
  • Cleaned with Morrowind Enchanted Editor.
  • See ReadMe for detailed information on how the fight mechanics work.
  • It is easy to stun-lock opponents with hand-to-hand.  To compensate, the opponents have higher stats.  The difficulty of this mod will depend on your character's stats.  I would appreciate feedback on the difficulty if it needs to be adjusted.
  • Morrowind Code Patch / OpenMW Change to Hand-to-Hand:  There is an optional feature in both MCP and OpenMW that changes the hand-to-hand damage formula.  The formula in vanilla only uses the hand-to-hand skill in calculating damage, while the optional feature incorporates the strength attribute into the damage equation.  The mod is designed to be compatible with the vanilla formula and the optional formula.  There is a test in the mod to try to detect whether the optional formula is used or not.  During the “tryouts” with Roch Broles, he wants you to hit him with a fully charged up hand-to-hand strike.
  • There are a lot of event cues in running the fights.  If you think the ref made a wrong call, please let me know what and with whom it happened against and I will see if something misfired in the code.
  • Spelling mistakes on proper names is intentional.  Your coach isn't very good with elf words.

This is my first published mod, and it was completed start to finish in 29 days for the Modathon.  Thank you to the Morrowind Modding Discord community for helping me with my modeling and scripting questions, and inspiring me to get this completed in time.

Hey kid, Roch Broles here.  Are you still reading this?  What are you looking for, an FAQ?  Here's a question for ya, why aren't you in the ring already?  You think helping a muck farmer in Gnisis is going to make you famous?  Dagoth Ur?  He's been around for centuries, kid.  The Tiber Boxing League is here in Vvardenfell now.  You have to take advantage of it, ain't no one made a mod to take you to next year's season in Hammerfell.

Aetherius above, are you STILL here?  Ok look, I need the money.  I said it, you happy now?  I need the money, so get in here and win some fights and we can both make it big.
