Outcasts of the Zainab tribe teamed up to establish their own tribe, the Salit tribe. However, they are a bit different than regular outcasts: these people were not exiled, or chose to leave because they are murderers, thieves and thugs, but because of a variety of justifiable reasons: some of them disapproved the soft lifestyle and the materialism of the Zainab, and wanted to live according to the old ways of the Ashlanders, closer to nature. Others were misfits and rebels whose more existence didn't fit into the rigid, traditional way of thinking of the tribe. And there were of course those, who just followed their friends and partners into the new tribe.
But this new tribe is still small, and needs to develop: they don't even have an Ashkhan yet. Are you willing to take this honor and burden on your shoulders? If you're a worthy candidate, you might want to give it a shot. (To begin: Find the Salit Camp, to the southwest of Tel Mora, and speak with the Gulakhan of the tribe, once Dagoth Ur is dead. If Dagoth Ur is still alive, the tribe will remain peaceful, but will mostly refuse to communicate with you.)
Features of this mod include:
- An overhaul of the vanilla Salit Camp: Its inhabitants have been pacified, it has been seriously expanded with new yurts and members, and it is more detailed now than in vanilla
- LGNPC-ish dialogue for the members of the tribe, all of them would have something unique to say (mostly through their greetings and through the topic "background")
- The usual services expected in an Ashlander Camp: a trader, a healer and a wise woman
- The opportunity to become an Ashkhan (your new title in the "Ashlanders" faction will be displayed on your character sheet)
- A small player home: an Ashkhan's Yurt
- Guars!
The mod contains seven quests:
- Become the Ashkhan of the Salit tribe
- Become the Nerevarine (as in: chosen champion of an Ashlander tribe) of the Salit tribe and receive a unique magical artifact, just like in case of the other four Ashlander tribes
- A radiant quest: turn in wickwheat in exchange for healing potions
- Appease the Zainab and pay a tribute to them in exchange for peace
- Put your new Ashlander Camp on a trade route to ensure the prosperity of your tribe
- Start a guar herd to diversify the ways the tribe can sustain itself
- A personal quest: Acquire the book, The Hope of the Redoran, to a bookworm member of the tribe and have it signed by both Athyn Sarethi and Shardie to make him happy (The quest also includes two sub-quests, one for Athyn Sarethi, another for Shardie, as they both ask for something in return for their signature)***
*** If I don't get the "Hope of the Redoran" achievement of the May Modathon for this, then I really don't know what needs to be done to unlock it!
Compatibility:
My mod is compatible with my other, similar mod, Ashlander Quests, (and my Main Quest Overhaul, which contains "Ashlander Quests" along with several other mods) in fact, it is also highly recommended that you play the two together. This mod is the spiritual successor of that mod. An "Ashlander Quests: Part 2" if you like. While the eleven quests in that mod focused on lending a hand to the four tribes and some individual Ashlanders by completing quests for them, here, in these seven quests, you take charge of an Ashlander tribe and ensure its prosperity, and significantly improve the lives of its members.
Can I also play this mod with a female character? All of the vanilla Ashkhans are males...
Yes, you can. One of the themes of this mod is that your Ashlander tribe is somehow unconventional, they are a group of outcasts and misfits who established their own tribe, so in many regards, they live their lives according to their own set of rules. And also, you are a Nerevarine, I think that for killing Dagoth Ur, an exception can be made, just this once.
