Introduction

Better Dialogue-Choices is a quest overhaul project focused on implementing rpg elements in dialogue while extending quests by giving the player multiple ways to complete them. This mod overhauls all Seyda Neen side quests.

Topics relating to quests now simulate an actual conversation between the player and npc, allowing the player to roleplay their character and decide how they want to tackle the situation at hand, while maintaining realism and lore-friendliness. Different styles of characters can change the conversation in different ways, for example dialogue options known as skill checks will only appear if your character meets the requirements. These can provide you more information, better rewards, or new paths on completing quests. See below for a full list of features and specifics on the quest overhauls

Features

  • Multiple outcomes available for quests depending on your choices, all having different rewards and impacts on the game world.
  • Use skill checks to get npcs to cooperate or open up new paths for quests. Skill checks will provide experience for the skill being used in addition to Speechcraft.
  • Quests are powered by mwse and will impact your gameplay as you progress through them.

Fargoth's Ring

  • You now have the choice to barter for fargoth to buy the ring from you, either by speechcraft or mercantile.
  • You can now help Fargoth and make Hrisskar back off through 4 various methods. Some are friendly with Hrisskar, some are not.
  • Agreeing to help Fargoth will lock off the hiding place quest.

Fargoth's Hiding Place

  • You can now haggle your reward with Hrisskar.
  • No longer will you be forced to sit on top of a lighthouse, while the option is still available you can now trick or bully Fargoth into giving you the stash, or perhaps he has its location somewhere in his house?

Vodunius's Cursed Ring

  • The cursed ring is now truly cursed, the longer you ignore it the longer it will drain your attributes and doom you. You must figure out how to break the curse.
  • Depending on how you break the curse, you will gain favor with either the Balmora Temple or the Imperial Cult in Moonmoth Legion Fort.
  • Helping Vodunius will now greatly please Darvame, and you will gain a discount on all rides.

Death of A Taxman

  • Socucius will now hire you to go find the body, while the body has a chance of spawning in the vanilla location it also now has a chance of spawning in 3 different new locations hidden in the swamp.
  • You must complete a full investigation to figure out who's the killer, from finding pieces of evidence to interviewing or interrogating npcs.
  • The killer will now flee into the swamp if you don't pass a skill check. The manhunt is on.
  • The player now has the option of helping the killer instead of Socucius, with how the player wants to help him being split into further options, with each of these having its own reward and impact on Seyda Neen.
  • No longer will poor Processus be left out to rot, upon progressing a certain point into the quest he will be buried by the lighthouse.

Requirements

  • Both Expansions and newest version of MWSE. I don't mean last month's, I don't mean last week's, I mean today's. Run the updater before playing.
  • It's not a hard requirement but I strongly suggest you use UI Expansion if you aren't already, the newest version.

Compatibility

  • Incompatible with openmw due to mwse usage and I do not intend on making an openmw version. Any questions about openmw compatibiliy or versions will be deleted.
  • Rebirth compatibility is unknown, I do not care for Rebirth. Test and figure it out for yourself. Do not ask me to make it compatible.
  • Should be compatible with RandomPal or Hater8's Seyda Neen mods, although I haven't tested them.
  • I do place a quest item inside Addamasartus, not many mods change Addamasartus but if they completely change the layout it could cause that quest path to be undoable. Use your own discretion.
  • This mod uses new journal entries for the quests, any mods that make other changes or gameplay things that are dependent on the old journals will likely not work and will need to be updated to the new journals. Alice's Census and Excise Office faction and Lucevar's LDM-Choices and Consequences have patches available in the files section.

Big thanks to Greatness7 for the lua scripting and making the mwse magic in this mod possible, as well as NullCascade for the amazing mwse.
