Hardware cursors in games are generally preferable: they look crisp and always stay responsive, BUT they don't scale! So, for example, if you try to play at 4K using OpenMW, you can adjust the UI scaling, but it won't affect the cursors. They will always be 32x32 pixels, which is TINY! These replacements are 64x64, which should make them easier to see. Let me know if you want them even bigger for even higher DPI screens.
