Welcome to Dwemer Return.

You play as a Dwemer and help a few surviving Dwemer uncover the truth of the disappearance of the Dwemer. As you do, the real Nerevarine, Jiub, is following the original main quest. Your destiny’s are entwined and together you will destroy Dagoth Ur and restore the Dwemer to Tamriel.

This is a story-based mod that replaces the main story quest if you play as a Dwemer. I have done my best to keep the story as lore friendly as possible; I have using as much of the original content as possible to explain the story. This mod is aimed at people who like the Dwemer or want a new way to complete the main quest.

When you start the game, you will not receive the coded package for Caius. You are not the Nerevarine! However, the mod still works within the Nerevarine prophesies to reach its conclusion. Instead, you must meet with a contact of the East Empire company who arranged your release from
prison. The mod uses many pre-existing characters so that you get to learn more of their back-story, especially Yagrum Bagarn’s personal history, but Caius Cosades, Lord Fyr, Baladas Demnevanni and Jiub feature in this mod. As I perceive the events of the battle of Red Mountain constitutes a dragon-break, where various timelines emerged (This is why the accounts of the battle of Red Mountain differ wildly in-game) this mod represents just one possible timeline which I have done my best to ensure could be possible.

This mod will not be easy to complete, there will be battles to face and difficult choices to make. You will be trying to defeat Dagoth ur and even the Tribunal. They do not want to lose their godly status and the power that they have become so accustom too. Unlike the original main quest, the Tribunal will not go without a fight. You will need friends, allies and be strong to survive the trials ahead. It is not all fighting though and there are plenty of puzzles to solve and items to find on this quest, which will be made easier for those who know Vvardenfell well (like me). There is also more than one way to complete some of the missions and even some sections that can be skipped entirely if you choose a different path and don't go for the obvious lead. There are also signs and portents of the coming dangers if you look for them, ignore them at your peril!

As this is a replacement for the main quest it starts quite slowly, (I do apologise for the first mission which is just a pre-existing mission repurposed) and I would advise the player to get as much experience as possible by doing other quests as the missions progress. However, it will suddenly get quite tough, and you may end up in trouble if you are not sufficiently strong/experienced; the mod rewards you for reading everything people have to
say and immersing yourself in Morrowind lore.

There is also a prototype Aetherium forge hidden somewhere in Bthanchend (the capital city of the Dwemer buried under red mountain) that can create new armour and items. You will need to defeat the forge master and gather Aetherium crystal to create items. Aetherium crystal can be found randomly in mines across Vvardenfell.

Background
In the year 3E 405, after the events of Daggerfall. The Numidian is finally destroyed by the Under King and all Tamriel is united under the Empire. The Blades, who were operating in the area, try in vain to find any useful pieces of the destroyed Numidian; they find nothing, but instead stumble upon two dying Dwemer carrying a small Dwemer child. The Dwemer say nothing, except to ask that the child be looked after. The child is imprisoned by the emperor, who is increasingly interested in the fate of the Dwemer, the Nerevarine prophecies, the elimination of the Tribunal 'gods' and the
destruction of Dagoth Ur. After twenty years in prison, you are suddenly taken, first by carriage then by boat, to Morrowind ignorant of the role you will play in their history. You have nothing but questions. Where did you come from? Are there any more Dwemer? And why were you released without explanation and sent to Morrowind?

I have added a forum thread titled spoilers which has more story/mod information, but it has spoilers in it just for those who want more info and do not mind some spoilers.

I hope you enjoy the story, and I would appreciate any constructive criticism of this mod, so that I can improve it. I have spent off and on more than 4
years on this mod so have fun and enjoy!

Finally, I would like to say thank you to the creators of the mods that I used the assets from to create this mod.
