I loved this mod and I thank you for making an openmw patch for it. I've come across a problem where only npc's sitting Specifically on benches are floating. Every other npc works just fine. I have the shield sheathing patch, as well as I've tested to see if my mesh replacer's (I use MET) were the problem. They were not. I noticed that in my openmw data directories it shows that this patch is an esp but I don't see in it in my content files. The patches along with the og mod are at the bottom of my load order. I am very confused and am unsure as to what the solution would be. I would Appreciate any help! Thank you.
Update: After multiple tests I have found that other mods aren't the issue. I've started multiple new games + clean swept and reorganized my mod list to see if anything was affecting it, and surprisingly nothing did. unfortunately it looks like there will floating characters no matter what, but I am able to get something that works a bit more by using Danae's Edit's alongside the weapon sheathing patch and Bards of Bardenfell. These will result in a slightly more immersive experience without as many floating drummers, as well as sitting npc's floating.
This is an engine side fix and above the scope of this patch. I've found that even if npcs are sitting they may end up floating at some point. Lucky for us, the animations api got merged so you will likely soon be able to have sitters without floaters.
Just out of sheer curiosity, what about Shield Sheathing breaks this mod? Only curious cause I really like em both, just wondering if there's any way I could try and patch it myself or something.
Beer mugs and meat and brooms and books and even lutes in actors' left hands are often shields. And they're rigged to the body as offsets from where a shield should be... but won't be if it's on the back instead.
With latest OpenMW 0.48 RC, Jean Moniel in Office of Census of Seyda Neen is floating above the desk. Previously it worked. Strange.
EDIT: I found the culprit: apparently some mod I recently installed overwrote the meshes from your mod (probably some furniture). I just reinstalled them and it worked again.
Some file systems on Linux are case sensitive. This causes issues for this mod because some of maniman303's files are uppercase while abot's stuff is lower cased. They won't overwrite each other unless you make the names consistent. This will cause some of the floating issues.
use the console ori command to make sure the chair is coming from this mod. Make sure that this mod's data= line in openmw.cfg is after any other place an AM\\AM_Writer02.nif might be found. That should be all it takes.
@wcfcarolina13 just reinstall this mod and overwrite every existing file. Also, on OpenMW make sure the Shield Sheathing option is disabled (this way you won't have floating objects).
> just reinstall this mod and overwrite every existing file. This won't work if you use multiple Data folders and the files you overwrite also exist in another folder which loads later.
For others having this issue - install this mod, and make sure it loads after others - if useing mo2, put it last on both the left and right hand side. fixed it for me.
This is probably the latest version of my edit. Contains alvazir's fixes and Weapon Sheathing patch.
This time I checked every sitting NPC then removed the ones that were glitching out. There shouldn't be any "floating sitters" by now.
So who didn't make it:
- 7 day eaters out of 10 - 7 night eaters out of 10 - 5 day sitters out of 13 - 6 night sitters out of 13 - 6 drummers out of 11 - 5 writers out of 8 - 4 readers out of 16 - 6 smiths out of 7 (The smith in "Vivec, No name club" is the only one positioned correctly) - 1 fisher out of 26
Cleaners, Beggars, Alchemists, Bards, Miners, Rogues, Sitting Slaves, Drunks, Skoomars, Dreamers weren't touched as they seem to work fine.
Personal changes:
- I decided to get rid of a drummer in Vivec's fighters guild and the other in Erabenimsun Ashkhan's Yurt - I found them non-fitting for the said locations and kinda obnoxious. - There is a fisherman in Sadrith Mora who is fishing near ship bulwark with his rod sticking out of it. It looks ridiculous so I changed his position to more logical one. - Removed weapons from inventory for some animated NPCs because I have "Weapon Sheathing" installed and the sheats were intersecting with tables and chairs.

Well sometimes when NPCs are standing too close to small objects it makes them float. And this applies to every character, animated or not. Such collision issues are inevitable and it's up to OMW developers to fix them.
I really like this mod. It brings more immersion and life to the gameplay.
However I have problems with the positions of the newly added NPCs.
I discovered the first biggest deviation in Balmora where the fisherman is swimming in the river instead of sitting on the wall to fish: https://www.dropbox.com/s/juuyprvf4z3xvay/fisherman%20swimming.jpg?dl=0
I installed everything correctly (at first the main mod then the patch, everything at the end of my load order) but I still get these problems. I am using OpenMW 0.47 (Since I am not sure if it is a good idea to use the newer unfinished versions)
Is there a general fix for this problem? I do not know if I find other NPC in wrong positions, I hope not, but if I do I want to fix them too.
Hallo, the animation looks fine and work but their property it not appear like some people in tavern playing music but not with their musical instrument.
1. Use the additional patch I made, found elsewhere in this comment thread. 2. Be sure that Shield Sheathing is disabled in the OpenMW launcher. 3. Make sure this mod is not being overwritten by anything, ideally by putting it at the end of your install order.
Step 1 should address your particular concern, but the other steps should resolve most unexpected behavior from Animated Morrowind in OpenMW.
It works! I don't remember and why the meshes is overwrite, but after i delete all my morrowind dictionary and install again from my backup it finally work so yeah maybe the meshes is overwrite although i don't remember when i overwrite the file. Thanks for reply.
Cool, glad you could fix it. It sounds like you’re installing mods manually? This sort of thing really is much easier to troubleshoot and manage if you install mods The OpenMW Way by keeping mods separate and adding entries to your openmw.cfg file.
Just think of the pain of having to redo your install just to fix this little issue, and how you might have to do that again for some other issue in the future. You don't have to do that ever again!

Nothing will stop Jean from floating, as well as a few others.

Tested on OpenMW 0.49. Cleaned with tes3cmd

These mods seems to add Animated Morrowind type NPCs to the Mainland:
