    Hi, thanks for your mod. Is there a reason you are including the version number in the plugin name?

      In the file name you mean ? "ZEF_FocusMacgicka_1.2.2.esp" ?
      To be clearer and avoid confusion that's it ^^, so you know at a glance which version of the mod you have.
      Does it cause any issues ?

      it is best practice to not do so - as otherwise your mod list technically changes if you put in a new version - which the game engine sees as a new mod entirely.  If there are open script variables or active magic effects - it might cause issues.

      The old save will have the old mod name in it, and the game engine will report there is an issue.
      If you have scripts attached - it could affect any variables as well (not 100% sure if tes3).

      so, just a suggestion to prevent possible alerts - even if practical impact is minimal.

      btw - love the mod regardless of the file name. :)

      Ok I understand.

      Still I think it's a better thing than having different files with the same name without being able to tell one from the other. When updating, I change the version number in the metadata (if I don't forget) but I'm pretty sure almost nobody know how to check it, maybe it should be enough though.

      If it's a problem you can rename the file by deleting the version number so that alll your files have the same name.

      Anyway I hope I fixed all the problems and don't have to update it again ^^ (hope I didn't jinxed myself)

    You didn't upload the fixed file though, 1.2.1 still prints "PC Sleep" each sleep hour.

      On it.

      It looks like it did it but it's again a problem of OpenMW-CS and TESIII-CS not working exactly the same.
      (I changed the script but since I didn't recompile it, there is still a "ghost version" (seems like it) of the old version still in the file...)

      And I hate TESIII-CS.

      Weird that nobody reported it, the file is more than a year old.

      I uploaded v 1.2.2 which fixes this problem.

      I forgot you have to compile your script with Vanilla Morrowind and you can't just change the extension to transform an .omwaddon into an .esp. So the previous version of the script stayed in place for all the people using vanilla even if it had been corrected.

      Thank you very much for your report and making my mod better.
      It also forced me to take a closer look (see BookofNightmares comment below) and solved another problem.

      I will try not to forget again that vanilla and OpenMW are different ^^

    hey, running vanilla morrowind here and after i used the focus spell the effect never went away, effectively giving me infinite magicka. i tried using dispel and it didn't work. Anything i can do to fix that?

      Hi,

      It never went away but you can move and act again ? That's weird it means it removed one part of the effect but nor the other...
      Do you use the Morrowind Code Patch ? If not install it, Morrowind is messy and I won't bother making something work without it.
      I think dispel not working is normal, the effect is applied to your character constantly (like a birthsign) then removed.
      Cast it again (then removes it) does it changes anything ?
      It's weird the mod isn't new and such a bug should've already been discovered...

      To remove the effect manually open the console and use :
      Player->RemoveSpell ZEF_FocusAbility
      but it won't prevent your problem from appearing again

      I don't have the mod under hand right know but I will take a look to try to understand.

      I do have the morrowind code patch, but i am running a lot of other mods. I tried casting it again and it didn't seem to do anything. I'll try the manual removal and let you know if the issue happens again.

      incidentally i love the mod, it's such a simple change that i think really improves mage characters

      One thing I also realized is : there is also a drain fatigue effect in the spell does it also stay or does it disappear ?

      so i played for a bit and the bug happened again. I noticed that i'm still able to move and the drain fatigue aspect disappears. I'm gonna mess around with the load order a bit and make sure i have the most recent version of the mod and see if that helps.

      I moved it to the bottom of the load order and it looks like everything is working now.

      Okay so I just looked at the mod and by itself there is no way to move again without deactivating the spell.
      I'm playing on Linux with OpenMW so it's a bit complicated for me to test your problem. I tried in OpenMW and didn't found anything.

      Edit : I just made a version of the mod with log messages. testing on OpenMW I found that sometime life loss does not remove the effect
      accurately (and I don't know why...) But I didn't had the problem with
      moving the mouse so that shouldn't be a big problem but that can be a
      clue for you.


      • Does the problem happen every time or is it a bit random ?
      • If you try to test it thoroughly do you find something (use set ZEF_FocusLevel to 999 to have an easier time testing).
      • When you keep the effect do you have a fatigue drain of about 10 points per second (it's not a magic effect it's in the script so you have to compare how your stamina changes, it won't show in the effect list) ?

      • What is your mod list ? What I could see is another mod using the command DisablePlayerControl / EnablePlayerControls (the one I use to stop the character from doing anything) but still the effect should be deactivated once you move your mouse.

      I will upload it can you use it to investigate please.
      There is a message saying you're losing stamina (so it trigger 10 times per second whil the effect is active). And messages that need to be ticked that trigger when the effect stops and explain if it's either life loss, full magicka or lost focus.

      Maybe I will think of something later but I don't have any ideas anymore.

      To Add and clarify the mod use the command DisablePayerControl to stop the player from doing anything. Then it uses the command
      EnablePlayerControls to come back to normal. The EnablePayerControl command is used when the effect stops either from life loss, having full magicka or moving your mouse.

      So if it's the mod that enable movement again you should get a message and if the problem is outside the mod you wouldn't.
      If the mod is at fault, could you try finding if the problem is only linked with one of the three cause for the stopping the effect or just once.

      I had forgotten : If you try my mod without any other does the problem happen still ?

      hey, sorry it took me so long to get back to this. Did some testing, and found that when i created a new character and added ZEF_FocusSpell in seyda neen, things worked as intended.

      Using MWSE Logger i saw that there was an error related to the non-test ESP missing when using the spell on my pre-existing character, but i cannot for the life of me find the actual MWSE.log file.

      Also, when the spell breaks i get 10 points magicka regeneration, with no stamina loss and able to freely move around.

      and when i tried running no other mods MGEXE threw up a lot of errors and the game crashed. My morrowind game is held together with spit and duct-tape lol. Remarkably stable though, somehow

      I will try looking at your mod list but seeing how big it is, not now ^^

      Does the spell continues whatever the reason for its stop ? (life loss, full Magicka or moving your eyes) ? I was trying to reduce the culprits.
      Do you get a message log when the effect stop or not ?

      Does this happen wherever you are ? There is a quest in tribunal that uses the same command (badly) and was causing problems. I patched it, but there could be more.

      I just added a new file for you, with more control checks in the script (which shouldn't be necessary...), it could work, or not. I'm not even sure it works with vanilla Morrowind, I only tested on OpenMW. One thing that could also happen is you would get stuck with the effect not ever ending (but that would be progress at least).

      Just to be sure, don't use both versions of the mod at the same time, it's a replacement not a patch. Wasn't the log just to say you didn't had the same mod list anymore ?

    As a 2+ decade Morrowind player, I recently came to OpenMW after finally getting tired of "tinkering with mods and performance" more than actually playing the game. Now, that didn't mean I don't mod my OpenMW Morrowind but it did refocus my efforts from all the "extra stuff I needed just to be able to run mods in Oldwind". Additionally, I chose to give Morrowind Rebirth a try which by necessity limited the amount of other mods I could add (being addicted to mod list building as I am, that's a good thing).

    But, Rebirth is a bit rough on a lazy casual like me, so I sought out a way to soften it up a bit - your mod solves a problem, thanks!

    May I request something ? It’s about the names given to this spell and the wait one : 
    Wait has a space before it. Could it be removed, or could this focus spell have one too ?

    Noobing inside CS, I hope I did not make any mistake… ^^ But it seems to work.

      I just thought about it so I come back. I can't understand what you're talking about. In Focus Magicka there is no Wait mode. Are you talking about Active Wait, my other mod ? If I remember correctly the spell is named "Active Wait" and the ability too, I don't think there should be a problem.

      For your edit as long as you only change the in-game name, there should be no problem at all.

      It is called « Wait», with a space at start, in the spell's window I mean. (I thought it was for easier sorting ^^)

    Hi everyone,
    I updated a new version of the mod after a feature request of SagaciousPeach that made me realize there were bugs and things I had forget.

    What this change:

    • Support for systems using gyroscope (Smartphones or VR) using two new global variables for easy customization
    • Since an unknown OpenMW update (maybe an unreleased one), the drain fatigue part of the mod was damaging fatigue instead.
    • This two changes made me merge all the versions of the mod in a single file, the alternate file system is replaced with a global variable which deactivate the learning of the spell
    • Some cleaning

      I just started using OpenMW VR. Thanks for the gyroscope update! I will give this mod a go as passive magicka regen doesn't feel right.

    This is a great idea, and I'm excited to use it but am having problems.

    I'm using OpenMW (with other mods; I've removed mods I though may impact). When I start using the addon and sleep, the spell will automatically add. I have the atronach birth sign, so I type in the two commands you recommend, but it still doesn't do anything when I cast the spell, and I don't see any magic effect icon pop up either. So then I use the console to remove the spell and set the level to 0, save and close out.
    If I use the alt addon, I set the level to 9, then run the two commands you recommended for the atronach birth sign; same thing. (and if I sleep with the alt addon it automatically learn it still).

    Any suggestions?

      Okay first I'm sure what the problem is : you want to use the mod while an Atronach or on the contrary you don't to but you learn it anyway.

      I've made errors in the script that stop the spell when you're an Atronach, it only start once but I think it starts to soon before you even get your birthsign so it doesn't do anything.
      You can use the command startscript ZEF_FocusStopAtronachBirthsignn to launch it once again and it should work, stopping the main script then you still need to reset your ZEF_FocusLevel to 0 and remove ZEF_FocusSpell

      Tell me if I'm right and then i will try patching the mod. I don't know why I have bugs that prevents me to start a new character, I can't speak to Sellus Gravius about my duties... so it makes testing the mod more complicated.
      I'm still surprised you're the first to have encountered this problem after more than 2000 downloads ^^

      So to be clear, I have the atronach birth sign but want to use the Focus spell.
      I have the spell, but it doesn't do anything.

      Well this is really weird...
      I am sorry but I can't manage to replicate what your telling me so it might be a little complicated to solve.

      When you cast the Focus spell, do you get visual and sound effects ? And when you cast it too much time, do you get a warning, something like retry tomorrow ?
      You're telling me you do not see a magic effect popping in the bar which is also really weird because I have not a single clue of how this part of the mod wouldn't work.
      If you type the command startscript ZEF_FocusScript before doing both of these things, does it change anything ?
      Have you removed all other mods ? Just to be sure.

      So I noticed that I was using a very old version of openmw (v 45? it's up to 47 now). I updated and now it works just fine! Thank you for your help and this great mod!

      Hi, you have to change the Zef_FocusAbility Spell Magnitude to 1 instead of 10. If you're using OpenMW_CS it's in mechanics tabs then Spells. Change both min and max magnitude. If you're using native CS (which is with the base game) I don't know where it is but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
      You can't go below 1 per second, but even 1 per second I think I wouldn't have the courage ^^. Just to be sure when you get to high level with 150 maybe even 300 Magicka you'll have to wait a really long time.
      I can make you a custom version if you really need and don't suceed

      My idea Is to use the Focus spell more time per day, slowing recharge  time to avoid exploitation.
      I'll try to modify with OpenMw CS. If i'll find problema i'll call for your support ?

    Hey, I tried installing the mod (the alternate version), on an already started game. I used the commands ("player->addspell ZEF_FocusSpell" and "set ZEF_FocusLevel to 3"), and I get the Focus spell, but it doesn't work.
    It appears as having no magic school, and the description says "Restore Magicka pts on Self", no number.
    When using it the console says:
    Player has cast a spell.
    Raw school: 6
    School not found
    Just in case I have only 45 willpower, but that should not matter, right?

      Have you used "startscript ZEF_FocusScript" ? Does it change anything ?
      It could also be that you get the effect but you remove almost immediately by moving your mouse so look for a new magic effect in the magic effect bar.
      Appart from that, No the WIllpower shouldn't matter if you changed ZEF_FocusLevel or if you use the alternate version. The description of the effect is correct, the spell doesn't do anything but is detected by the script that will give you an effect. I selected Restore Magicka 0pt 0s on self to have a fitting description but that's all.
      Do you use OpenMW or Vanilla ? Do you have Tribunal ? Do you know if you use the latest version of the mod (1.021) or any previous ?

      Yes, I also tried starting the script.
      Now that you said it I checked, and there is a new effect that lasts a fraction of a second, but I'm not moving the mouse (although the crosshair kinda moves a little by itself when casting, I also tried going on 3rd person but same thing happens).
      I use Game of the Year edition (from Steam), and I have other mods, MSWE and MGE XE included (so no OpenMW). I downloaded the latest version, 1.021

      Yeah it's really sensible so the best way is to let go your mouse, note that you have 3 seconds to react before it checks if you moved your mouse. The crosshair moving while you cast the spell is taken into account and shouldn't have any effect (because of the 3 seconds timer I told you)
      I might add threshold system to make it easier by allowing to move the mouse a little bit.

      Then it can't be me moving the mouse, because the effect appears for just a blink, far less than 3 seconds, and I'm clicking the mouse without even grabbing it.
      I will try to use the regular version now that I leveled my willpower a bit, but if I do so (and works) can I get more than one use per day (w/o having to get to 100)?

      Note that once your Magicka is full the effect will auto cancel. My bad it wasn't in the mod description only in the readme.
      About your problem, there is no difference for this point between the two versions, it won't change anything and yes you can still change your Focus Level with the main version.

      Well, using the regular version didn't work for me neither, I didn't learn the spell by sleeping (tried several times), and didn't work even when given by console.
      I suppose this is an incompatibility with some other mod (tried disabling a few that I thought might be the cause, but nothing).
      Anyways, I really liked the concept so I'll get another mod with a magic regen spell and kinda use it this way so I don't have to keep bothering you.
      I still left an endorse cause you were fast to respond and willing to help, thanks :D

      Just to be sure, did you read my part about the spell stopping once your Magicka is full ? It also stops if you lose life but it would be weird if it's the problem.
      The fact that you don't learn the spell is another problem for which I actually have no idea which annoys me. I will make some tries but tomorrow.
      And don't worry you don't bother me, if it's a real problem someone later will have it too, so better to fix it sooner. And if it's just a mistake of your part it's all the same it will serve people later.

      Oh, yeah, I forgot to clarify that. No, I spam spells to deplete at least half my Magicka, if not all of it, before trying to use Focus (and nothing hits me neither).
      Now that I think about it you never adressed the console messages that pop ("Player has cast a spell" "Raw school: 6" "School not found") so that is normal?

      When you cast the spell more than your normally allowed do you get a message like "you can't cast it try tomorrow" ?
      Pardon me if I say something obvious but I try everything. If you don't learn the spell causes I see :
      1 The script isn't started use startscript ZEF_FocusScript
      2 You don't have enough willpower (you can use player->setwillpower 100 )
      3 You don't rest, you only wait or your rest is interupted (by darkbrotherhood or maybe a dream)
      4 You already have learned the spell and progressed in its use so you won't learn it anymore (type ZEF_FocusLevel it will return the value)

      I'd understand it if you're fed up and doesn't want to try any more, but that would help me.

      PS I might have to make some test but tomorrow, It might be a vanilla problem and to test it I have to copy morrowind and my files on the Windows part of my PC. (I am on linux so I only play OpenMW)

      Those lines appear only on the console.
      I can't try rn, but I will, I don't mind doing so if it helps you.
      There is no message regarding a limit, I can "use" it more than the level I assigned.
      1- I used the command to start the script
      2- I have 62 willpower, so it should have been enough to get the level 1 of the spell
      3- I did rest, I even tried going to a bed, just in case, and spammed rest at least 10 times (of 1 hour)
      4- I didn't have the spell on my list
      I will try the test file, probably tomorrow tho

      If it helps I tried the test file, it also doesn't work, and even the burden part of the spell applies for just ~1 second (me being perfectly still, and not moving the mouse).
      Just in case, the commands I used were: "startscript ZEF_FocusScript" "player->addspell ZEF_FocusSpell" "set ZEF_FocusLevel to 5". And again, I could "use" it more than 5 times, there wasn't a pop-up or anything telling me I couldn't

      I posted a test for the new version. I do not have bugs any more on Vanilla but I'd like another test to be sure.
      It requires Morrowind Code Patch and now by default the script does not work any more with atronach characters.
      Please tell me if everything is alright.

      I tried both versions, and they seem to work perfectly. The regen itself, learning when sleeping at different levels of willpower, and the limit according to the level.
      The only feedback I can think is that the sign that pops when you move your mouse ("Stop Directions") is a little unclear. I think that something like "You awake from your meditation" (or something along that line) would be better.
