About this mod

This patch fixes some problems with reputation based greetings. NPCs should now greet the player properly, according to the player's reputation.

NOTE: This patch has been included in Patch for Purists (v3.0+) and this file is no longer required if you are using that mod.

Description:

In vanilla Morrowind, when you approach an NPC you will hear a verbal greeting, chosen from a list of possible options for that NPC. There are various conditions that can result in any number of possible greetings. One such factor is the reputation of the player. The intent is that the player will hear increasingly impressed greetings as they become more famous within the world.

Unfortunately, these greetings have a few bugs. Male Dunmer greetings are in the wrong order, which means the player will never hear the greetings associated with higher levels of fame. Even worse, the condition on ALL reputation-based greetings is wrong, and actually checks the reputation of the NPC instead of the reputation of the player when deciding which greeting to use.

The excellent VGreetings by The Other Felix fixes the first issue, but I have not yet found a mod that checks PCReputation instead of NPCReputation. This patch addresses both issues.

Compatibility:

This mod should be loaded after VGreetings

Note:

- There are some issues with greetings regarding clothing and reputation based checks that this patch does not yet address.
- For mid-disposition NPCs (Disp ~= 50), greetings about the weather will be blocked once you are famous enough (Rep >= 3). This may be addressed in a new iteration of this patch.
