He even has his own virgin/chad meme? Now I really have to d/l this guy. I am a long time breeder of pet rats, so I'll name one of the next babies Paxon in honor of this guy.

That's really nice of you, I bet it will be super healthy and love eggs. If it starts following you everywhere and toting small items for you, watch out!

      Hope you like the mod!

    Hi Tizzo,

I`ve been thinking a bit more abt. Paxon. So I believe his striking power is OK, but perhaps an extra .esp with HP and carrying capacity reduced by half wouldn`t be too hard to add. He would then be more realistic. He`s just a rat after all.

That's actually very trivial to do, and involves removing one digit from one formula in one script. When I do another release, I'll see about including that as an option.

    Hi all,

this is a very good mod, I would like to make Paxon less OP as a fighter though. Perhaps make him essential but easier to knock down. Less HP and unconscious when health below, say, 25%? And have him ignore "friendly fire" while at it anyway.
    Endorsed.

      Thanks for the endorsement!

The 'Danae Special' esp included in the mod archive is geared towards users who want him less OP combat wise, and easier to babysit. It changes Paxon's stats to give higher health ( 4500+ Health ) and reduces his damage from 4-12 ( The same as a Blighted Rat ) to 1-1 ( functionally nothing ). I would suggest using that version of the mod if you want more of a porter than a battle buddy.

Regarding your other requests: I initially wanted to include a K.O. at low health mechanic in the Paxon mod, but Rat model creatures have an animation glitch where, when playing the 'unconscious/out of stamina' animation, they will slide across the ground until they regain consciousness. It's very jarring, and at one point during testing, I watched Paxon slide out of the world geometry altogether.

Also can't really set a creature companion to 'ignore' friendly fire without breaking stuff, otherwise I would do that too.

      Thanks for using my mod!

Has anyone here experienced a bug where Paxon's attack sound loops continuously even through load doors? Please halp me, I love him so much, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing this.

Sounds like his AI may have gotten stuck in a loop. Try using his acorn, and if that doesn't work swing at him a few times so he enters combat with you, then use the acorn to calm him down. That will reset his AI.

Are you using OpenMW or the EJ-12 Pack Rat model?

The acorn did help! I am not using OpenMW, and I started with the vanilla model (this occurred) then tried the EJ-12 model and it happened again! :( Other follower-esque mods I have installed are Baron's CM Partners, Easy Escort, Kill Command, Diligent Defenders, and then other mods that might affect him (although this loop only happens immediately after combat) are the Expanded UI and inom - Inventory mouse wheel mods?

None of those should be causing any conflicts, I use several myself in fact. But O.K., lets walk through it:

Easiest thing to check is MWSE conflicts. Disable MWSE (it's an option in the MGE-XE front-end) and see if our little buddy is still all riled up.

If not, then several of your MWSE mods effect companions, and it may be one of them causing the glitch you are experiencing. I'd double check and make sure all your MWSE mods are up to date (google 'Nullcascade Morrowind' and get the latest versions of most of them directly from the GitHub) and also make sure the MWSE executable itself is fully updated.

If everything checks out as far as MWSE goes, Paxon is constructed in such a way that it is easy to clean your save and reinstall if something crazy odd like this happens. Unload him, dismiss, save, exit, disable the mod, reload the game, save the game, exit, re-enable, grab him from Seyda Neen again, and load him back up. Optionally, replace the existing .esp with one found in the archive.

If it is still happening after that, it is a mod conflict with something else in your load order. PM me with a copy of your load order list and we'll work through it.

Optionally, you could go onto the Morrowind Modding Community Discord ( https :// discord . me / mwmods ) and ask around there. I'm active there as well.

Let me know if any of this helps.

Ok, I'll be a bit busy this weekend, but I'll try all the above out and if none of that works, I'll hit you up on discord! Thank you so much for your thorough response! <3

Afraid not. Rats can't really sneak, they don't have the animations for it.

It's O.K., other creatures and NPC's won't aggro him while you're out and about.

    In response to post #67996826.

    Spoiler:
    Show

If it makes things more fun for you, feel free. Just don't change anything but the name, changing the creature ID in the editor will break stuff.

    Thanks for using my mod!

Great!  As soon as I figure out the way to do it so I don't mess up; I'll be careful.
    Thx.

I feel sorry for making him carry so much of my trash that he's basically my mobile home, but home is where the heart is after all, and I love this little guy.

The dialogue people have about him is a nice inclusion, some of the silly ones still give me a chuckle. Still finding new lines every now and then, there's a surprising amount of dialogue for a mod that features a companion that doesn't speak. The option of having him just stay outside so I don't have to tell him to wait all the time is incredibly convenient. I also like the simplicity of this not reaching beyond the scope of just being a companion mod, but at the same time not seeming entirely generic. Not every companion needs to come with an epic storyline containing several new quests, dungeons, NPCs, weapons, ect.

This little stinker is a really good boy and I'll likely be getting him fat off of treats for many adventures to come.

Oh! I've killed so many rats. I feel miserable now. wink wink Until now it never occurred to me that I might be able to train one as a pack rat.

I LOVE IT!May I mod it so it's name gives credit to the author when ever I get his stats for before packing on more or relieving him of the load?

Tizzo. thinks about it Tizzo the pack rat. thinks about it some more. Nah! How about, Tizzo?

I am having an issue. I installed him and went to Seyda Neen and found him but didn't save before I exited. Now, When I go back into the game I don't have him or the acorn but the NPC dialogue for him is still there. I've tried reinstalling and making a clean save before reinstalling and I've tried going back to the save before I had him loaded the first time. Nothing. Any ideas on what to try next to fix the issue?

Edit: I restarted my PC and reinstalled and it worked. I might have been unknowingly installing it incorrectly, but I'm happy that he works now!

That's a new one. Sorry you had issues.

In the future, you can ask a Guard class NPC where the silly beast has gotten off to (the "My Pack Rat" dialogue option) and he'll get warped to a bar or inn somewhere in most towns on the mainland.

You should also be able to console in a copy of the acorn ( player -> additem "AA1_PaxonAcorn" 1 ) and use that to summon the Pack Rat as well.

Failing that, you can always clean your save (save, exit the game, uncheck the mod, go back in game, save again, exit again, recheck the mod, load the game up again) and that should reset everything. No PC Restart required.

Let me know if you have any other issues.

      Best,

      Tizzo

Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind in case I accidentally lose him again. I've played with him for a few hours and haven't had any more trouble. :)

      Thanks again!
