About this mod

Even Telvanni mages need a home. A cozy house, but not too big to clean. Take a look! A neat, lightweight Tel Uvirith expansion plugin! It is centered around nice decor, is compatibility-friendly, adds new areas inside and places a lot of flavour items, texts, lights, traps, secret areas and even scripted houseware!

Tel Uvirith Lite!
* Part of the Morrowind May Modathon Month 2018! *

A barren ashland. Flickers of fire crackle in dry air, lifted by the heat rising from lava streams. Dead bones lie buried in salty sands. Molag Amur, a place that no one ever goes to, that no one ever leaves. The place that you've decided to live in. But is it truly that easy? Will dangers of the ashlands leave once you've stepped inside your fortress? Or will new, unexpected troubles arise? Will you uncover many secrets of new Tel Uvirith, or perish to cruel traps inside dark passages of your own home? Find out in this little plugin!

Description

The Telvanni stronghold of Tel Uvirith is a very moody, intense place. Still, it is not perfect. Many modders made their tweaks to it, making it as grand as Telvanni Archmagister home should be. But there are mages who just want a neat, cozy abode; something simple, but pleasant. While still keeping the feeling of atmospheric, removed fortress, I've given my best to do exactly that.

This plugin will change both exterior and interior of Tel Uvirith. On the outside, it will add some new roots and mushrooms to, to be fair, rather dull-looking tower player was offered. Also, at the last stage of Tel Uvirith's construction it will grow two more cozy houses, both with a purpose. On the inside the tower will be expanded - many new shelves, misc decorative items, lights and Dwemeri guardians will make it look fresh and cozy. Even the root that made flying in Tower Upper so troublesome has been removed now! But this is not all that's there to it...

The deeper you descend in your tower, the more dark roots of magic and Telvanni mindset will show themselves. You will find series of chests with keys unlocking each other. Cursed books with cursed spells. Enchanted amulets that take just as much as they give. Traps and secret passages both are waiting for you there, in deep parts of the tower.

Many areas were given a story to tell. You can find flavour documents explaining those stories in most new areas. I've tried my best to keep everything lore-friendly, but in case you don't like them, you can enchant them - capacity is not that amazing, but is well enough for scrolls. The cursed books with spells also tell stories, but are included in special addon, so you may choose to omit them.

But overall not that much is changed; I've mostly added things, so original architecture and furniture are untouched, thus ensuring some level of compatibility. Obscure Books, Holidays of Tamriel and many such mods don't need any patches. The home is very compact; I hope you'll like it.

Features

- A rework of player's Telvanni stronghold
- A number of flavour documents and a total of 7 cursed books for you to discover
- Dangerous traps and enchantments to avoid
- A nice, cozy bar with drinks and custom scripted trama beverage brewing
- Rather dark environment, but a box with candles is included
- A teleport spell for easy getting around the tower
- To get it, build it as usual!

Requirements and installation:

Needs Morrowind and Bloodmoon. Built on the Steam version, but should work fine with everything. Cleaned with TESAME.

Inside there are:
- Vanilla versions for people who don't have Telvanni meshes replacers or have the one with smooth meshes.
- ITA versions for those who have Improved Telvanni Architecture.

There also are special versions with addons:
- Teleport spell versions contain their respective vanilla or ITA house mod + teleport spell for the house (you'll need to find it in a book inside)
- Chef's Kiss versions contain their respective vanilla or ITA house mod + teleport spell + 7 cursed books with unique texts and magic inside. They are not overpowered, and should be funny to have.

Finally, there's a Showcase Module. It doesn't contain the house, but it allows you to easily showcase or otherwise have a look at the house mod. It unlocks the door to Vodunius Nuccius' house in Seyda Neen and places there a special activator that will transport you to Tel Uvirith, build it, make you a part of house Telvanni to disable Reynel Uvirith, and give you a flight spell that never fails. That will allow you to decide whether you want to use my mod or not. Obviously, it's not meant for an actual playthrough. Note: the module probably won't work with any other Tel Uvirith house mod except mine. If they don't use their own quests and scripts to build it, but instead rely on vanilla quest, then yes, it'll totally work. Thanks to Leonardo from TAL for pointing this out.

To install, just choose your esp (only one) and place it into Data Files folder of the mod; then paste Data Files folder of the mod into your Morrowind Directory. You can add Showcase Module, too. If it says merge folders, say yes. If it says overwrite, say no (you can say yes if you're sure my files are better). Check them in your launcher of choice and sail away!

Compatibility

- Apel’s Azura Coast and Sheogorath Region Retexture is incompatible (well, it’s okay except for azura’s coast telvanni podbuds 1-4)
- PeterBitt’s Mushroom Tree Replacer is incompatible (sorry)
- Any housemods for Tel Uvirith are probably incompatible.
- Anything else including mods that place items in Tel Uvirith should be totally okay.

Permissions

You can do with the esps whatever you wish. As for the resources I've used - please refer to original pages of Great House Fliggerty or Nexus. All of them were free to use non-commercially, but still. Those are:

Kiteflyer61's amazing Limeware Mugs resource.
Dongle's masterwork bathtub resource, musical instruments and flying book resource!
Melchior Dahrk's great Telvanni trapdoor resource! Thanks, you all!

Gratitude for the community

This is my first ever mod to be released. I am deeply touched by those who still mod and maintain the community even 16 years after the game's release. Thank all of you, whether you are a modder, player or just a Nexus reader. Thanks to darkelfguy for his showcases and love he's given us.

Thanks to Melchior Dahrk for proofreading cursed books from the mod, it helped so much.
