Uncompressed original textures.

For some reason, the Morrowind installer puts hardly compressed textures to your the PC, which may have been intended for consoles. Uncompressed textures have the same resolution, but take up to 6 times more memory and have much greater clarity.

I accidentally stumbled upon this mod when I was looking for a high-definition rettexture for vanilla faces, because I did not like all the replaycers (except for individuals, but I can not install them individually).

It was hard work for him, read:

Left is vanilla Morrowind. Right is using loose files from GOG version that the game doesn't use by default. Notice how the right has much more defined eyes, and no noise present in the entire face.

Yeah. I'm going to see if I can compile all of this higher quality textures into a mod.

...

This shit is much harder than I expected. I have no clue whatsoever how to make the game use these textures. I tried saving them into a mod, installing through NMM, and nothing happened. I tried to save them as new textures (to bring them up to date), installing through NMM, and nothing happened. If I save them as .dds files, they work correctly, but the quality is fucked, and even if I enlarge the texture beforehand to avoid the .dds artifacts, the texture naturally still looks uglier than the original .bmp/.tga files. If I change the .ini "TryArchiveFirst", two out of three result in buggy meshes and textures, so I have to leave it at 0.

I don't even know if it is possible to force the game into using these without some serious tweaking involved. I would appreciate any advice on the matter.

...

So... I can finally say I got those GOG textures to work in the game. I had to save them as .dds files with a special compression (or apparent lack thereof) to make them look just as good as .dds files like they do as .bmp and .tga files.

I took only one measly picture, but you can see the detail in the face and the lack of artifacts overall in the textures. The textures are the same resolution, so naturally they will be stretched and thus blur will occur. But at least the textures will be blurry and not horrifyingly disfigured thanks to unwanted artifacts.

Focker out.

I srcolled through this thread to the end, there were no links to a similar mod for Tribunal and Bloodmoon:http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/yet-another-morrowind-thread.85809/page-57
But you can track and watch it.
