About this mod

The hard limit for maximum Magicka is anti-fun for mages while patronizing warriors. This mod aims to change that.

The_Markie's
MAGICKA RECALCULATED

This mod aims to solve the hard limit on your final Magicka pool (with 100 Int).

HOW?

The mod changes the way your Magicka grows. Instead of calculating your Magicka with the vanilla formula:

Magicka = Intelligence * Magicka Multiplier (aka Fortify Maximum Magicka)

Now you can gain Magicka per level if you invest at least one point in that levelup, with this formula:

Magicka gain = ( Intelligence / 10 ) * ( Intelligence invested / 5 ) * Magicka Multiplier

Note: Default Magicka Multiplier is 1
Note: If you level up but does not invest anything in Intelligence, your Magicka does not gain anything that levelup.
Note: When you reach 100 Intelligence, each levelup gains you Magicka as if you have invested FIVE points into Intelligence.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Let's benchmark the progression of two types of characters:

Character 1: Typical mage.
- Starting int: 50
- Magicka mult: 3 (Altmer + Mage birthsign)
- Int gain: 2 per level.
Character 2: Typical warrior with some spell casting.
- Starting int: 40
- Magicka mult: 3 (Atronach birthsign)
- Int gain: 1 per level.

Through character setup and early investments, you can exceed your vanilla Magicka pool by a significant amount down the line. On the other hand, characters that don't prioritize Intelligence will fall a tiny bit behind vanilla amount and take time to catch up.

FAQ

What about Fortify Magicka and Fortify Intelligence?
- They do the same as before, give an arbitrary amount of Magicka:
* Fortify Intelligence gives Magicka = Intelligence fortified * Magicka Multiplier
* Fortify Magicka gives an arbitrary amount that can go past the maximum (will not lose if you levelup and your maximum Magicka increases).
What about Drain and Damage?
- Seemed to work fine last time I checked. Also, if Fortify works I don't see why these effects don't.

Can I use it with existing saves?
- No, you can't calculate the pool without an accurate account of Intelligence progression. Making a prompt to go through the levels would be tiresome with more than 10 - 15 levels.

Does it work with custom races then?
- Yes. The calculations take into account your attributes and nothing else, so no reason it wouldn't work.

What about the Mantle of Woe?
- The mod was created with only Morrowind.esm as master file, with no modification to Mantle of Woe. But interactions with Mantle of Woe have been tested, and it works. You get more Magicka equals to your base Int * 5. There is however some minor rounding problem where you'll get 1 more Magicka in some occasions.

Does it work with other mods?
- It is compatible with any mod that modifies only your Max Magicka. If a mod only modifies your Int (how you gain, how you lose), I assume it won't have any problem, but you can send me the mod personally to let me test.
- Due to script limitations, the mod will not detect custom Fortify Maximum Magicka effects (from the Elemental Birthsign for example) by itself. Send me any mod you wanna use this mod with so I can pump out compatibility patches.

INSTALLATION
MWSE is required!

COMPATIBILITY LIST
Mods that are confirmed to be compatible with mine:
"Elemental Birthsigns" by Sheshelj
"MCC Leveler" by mg979
(magicka regeneration seems to work fine)
"Skill Based Magicka Bonus" by helswake
(if you accept that magicka growth is only based on multiplier bonuses from racial/birthsign, this is recommended because more bonuses can snowball to generate massive magicka which is overkill)
"Magicka Mastery" and "Spell Cost Reduction"
(these mods both do the same thing so they're not compatible with each other however)
