About this mod

Ever seen a 90lbs longsword in real life? No! Why? Because that is wildly impractical. Would you spend 64K on a claymore? Hell no; that's just ludicrous. This mod attempts to rectify the balance of item weights and values throughout morrowind. Don't want to modify EVERYTHING? Well we also provide modular options for those who onl

MORROWIND COMPLETE REBALANCE
By: GrandBulwark and TheInkBunny

REQUIRES: BLOODMOON+TRIBUNAL(No I will not make a version which doesn't)

INTRODUCTION:
Yes... Yes I know it's a few years late and all but here it is!  My first public mod for Morrowind.

Years ago Morrowind was my favorite game.  Now as time went by; I moved on to the Fallout's and the later games in the TES series.  Coming back full cycle to Morrowind; I found that there are some qualms I have with the way the game was balanced.  Not necessarily combat balance, more so the item values and weights.

Lets Draw a few comparisons with later games as an example.

In Skyrim a Daedric Sword is weighs 16lbs and is worth 1650 Septims.  Morrowind's Daedric Longsword weighs a whopping 60lbs and is worth 40,000 septims.  See the discrepancy there?  The higher tier the armor or weapon; the heavier Bethesda made it.  While I understand the concept, in practice such extreme increase in weight and value makes high tier armor and weapons impractical, and practically unsellable.

Another comparison.  Skyrim's Arrows and bolts are weightless, and it's ingredients are practically weightless.  Morrowind's counterparts are all weighted, yet another tedious thing to worry about.  "Ermegerd I have 1 too many scrib jellys" not anymore.

THAT'S GREAT BUT WHAT IS THIS MOD ALL ABOUT?
Well it's simple.  Inkbunny and I felt we could resolve many of the issues listed above.  So we set out to making a modular overhaul of the weights and values of most everything.  The end result is a a series of tweaks that make looting in Morrowind a much more realistic experience.

GREAT, NOW STOP STALLING AND GIVE US SOME DETAILS!
You got it!

There are 8 total .esps.  1 is a complete package containing ALL of our tweaks and the other 7 are for individual parts.  Here is a more in depth lowdown;
(See the readme tab on the top of this page; or in the data files folder after you install MCR for additional details.)

Rebalance Complete.esp - ALL other .esps combined
Rebalance Armor.esp - This plugin caps armor values at 10K and substantially lowers the weight of high tier heavy armors like Deadric and Ebony
Rebalance Weapons.esp - This plugin caps weapon values at 10K and substantially reduces the weight of weapons that were simply too heavy to be practical.
Rebalance Clothing.esp - Just the 10K value cap; no other values altered
Rebalance Misc.esp - Cuts the weight of alchemy apparati in MW in half, removes weight from lockpicks and probes, sets the weight of repair hemmers/prongs to 1lb and finally applies the 10K value cap to the Bitter Cup.
Weightless Bolts.esp - Duh
Weightless Arrows.esp - Duh
Weightless Ingredients.esp - Duh

IMPORTANT! VERY VERY FRIGGIN IMPORTANT.
Morrowind calculates an items weight when it ENTERS your inventory and again when it EXITS your inventory.  NOT WHILE IT IS THERE.  Before you load this mod into a playthrough drop ALL objects otherwise you will have phantom equipment.  After you drop all items, save and install the mod equipment can be picked up and dropped to your hearts content :)

WELL THAT IS JUST LOVELY!  NOW HOW DO I INSTALL THIS GODSEND?
Easy!

You've heard of The Nexus Mod Manager! (If you hadn't you have now)

The All-in-one fomod installer is designed for use in NMM; download the mod with NMM activate it in the MODS tab and ensure the .esp(s) is/are checked in the PLUGINS tab.

If you'd prefer to install manually extract the desired .esps from the respective folders in the mod's archive, to morrowind's "DATA FILE" folder located in the morrowind install directory.  Make sure the .esp(s) is/are checked in the launcher.

PERMISSIONS:
No reuploads or rehosting without permission.  Ask for permission prior to using any of the .esps in your own modding projects.
