Using Morrowind Script Extender this plugin allows you to access the inventory of random NPCs you meet in your travels.

For the altruists, feel free to give gifts to the strangers you meet. For the pragmatists, talk Lord Fyr into trading for those pauldrons. Silver-tongued? Talk the ladies or gentlemen out of their clothes. Or just take up that life of petty banditry you've always wanted.

Talk to Sellus Gravius and he'll give you the topic "| gift" (from his "welcome" topic, which you can use with every non-companion NPC in the game.

Giving gifts, if valuable enough, may raise the disposition of NPCs. If you ask to trade and then take more than you give, they could get mad enough to report your actions as a crime instead. In general, everything under the "Give me something" sub-topic will get you in trouble. You might be able to get away with demanding a small gift from people who really like you, but they won't be happy about it. And just because you demand something, doesn't mean you'll get it. If you really want something, you'll be better off either making friends and trading or simply attacking and looting the corpse.

If NPCs really like you and are passive enough, they will willingly trade their clothes, armor, and weapons. Raising their dispositions is easy, but you may need to give them gifts (either a few large ones, or many smaller ones) to reduce their aggressiveness towards you. You'll find that most ordinary people will trade their clothes, armor, and weapons after about 6 small gift exchanges (each worth at least 24 drakes) or one larger exchange (worth about 900 drakes). Some are easier and some are harder. In general, it's much harder to gain the trust of guards, merchants, and outlaws.

On a technical note, the inventory exchange box includes a Profit field that starts with a value of 1,000,000. You can see the total value of your gifts or thefts in the changes to that value. The value starts that high because using 0 will trigger an inappropriate mercenary dialog if you take items from the NPC.

Be careful taking special items from NPCs, you can break quests and cause other serious problems. Don't complain to me if you break a quest mod be taking the reward or some other vital item too early.

Exchanging filled soul gems will empty them!

Using this to access Leveled List Items will cause serious problems. Don't take any of those from merchants or other NPCs who might have them unless you want a worthless item that could crash your game.

Siege at Firemoth gives Sellus Gravius an alternate greeting to introduce that quest, so you may need to talk to him repeatedly until the welcome topic eventually appears, or simply use a "AddTopic welcome" command in the console to get it.

MWSE and Bloodmoon/GOTY edtion are required.
