    Hello everyone.
Thank you very much for all those amazing mods who will totally get my kicked out from university soon.
I have a problem with mod manager. I have steam GOTY edition, I did install morrowind mod manager in the right folder. I took the MMM file from here https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/26260?tab=files

of course the 7zip version because i didn't think i could download the mod manager with mod manager unless i do have the mod manager already, which I don't.
So, i installed the mod manager in the right directory, I launched it in administrator mode, successfully launched morrowind and its expantion with it. Cool.
FIrst sign of a problem: if i click on "help" i receive an error message "an error occurred when trying to open the help file: impossible to find the specified file".
Then i started trying to download the other mods (the fix pack, tamriel data, tamriel rebuilt, the essentials). NO download whatsoever starts if i try to download the mmm file. It keeps saying that i need an installed protocol to use the desired addresse (despited MMM is istalled AND running).
    What should i do?

You hopefully figured this out already lol, but steam default is:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind
I have the GOG version which defaults to:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Morrowind\

Doesn't work for me for some weird reason. Gives "Morrowind mod manager must be installed to Morrowinds installation directory" error even if I select the folder that Morrowind.exe is in.

I had this same problem when I was getting this set up, if the "new folder" slot is appearing at the end of the directory, delete it and it should be fixed

I'm sorry but I have no idea whats going on here, what do i do? How do i use this? I JUST started playing on pc other than simple steam games where i just subscribe and go.(!!!!! is where the question is) I used to play minecraft but i always used Skydaz which is sadly taken down, but it featured a very easy to use wizard that installed forge for you, AND it would detect conflicts and help you fix them. An F in the chat for Skydaz's mod manager/wizard, for some reason when the website went down, the wizard is nowhere to be found and now modding is much more difficult, along with thousands of mods being gone and creators moving on and no longer updating. :(

!!!!! Anyway enough about minecraft, how do i open/use this? It says its a 7z file but it wont work with 7z for me, and even if it did, there's a GUI in the pictures and 7z is just a file explorer so im not sure how that would even work. Can anyone help? The description here didn't seem to really tell me anything and neither has google so far. I tried Java too, even though i figured it wouldn't work and i was right.

If it won't work with 7z, right click, move your cursor to the "7-Zip" option, and extract the archive or click "Open" under the drop-down that appears after you right-click 7-Zip. The executable to install the file is compressed within the 7-Zip archive and needs to be taken out to function.

That said, this utility appears to be a version of OBMM that was jury-rigged to work with Morrowind's admittedly-similar file architecture. Especially given that you claim to have no prior experience fiddling with mods outside of utilities like Workshop and Skydaz that do everything for you, I would point you to Mod Organizer 2 since that utility is much more robust, and works in a manner similar to Skydaz/Steam Workshop in that you can mostly just hit "Download With Manager" and double-click the mod under the app's "Downloads" section to have it installed for you. I know that the link is to a Skyrim page, but the utility functions for almost every moddable game.

My specific copy of Morrowind is arranged as C:\Program Files (x86)\The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind\Data Files
So where should it go? Aside from "The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind" and "The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind\Installers" both instances say "Morrowind Mod Manager must be installed to Morrowinds installation directory" (yes, Morrowind plural spelled wrong)

I was having that issue as well, but my Morrowind was in the D drive, so what I did was I removed "\Data Files" from the destination path, so it read D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Morrowind, as that's where the actual Morrowind.exe file is. Hope this helps.

I've tried NMM, Vortex and MO2 for other games, and they all work well. Comparatively, this is a very simplistic (which is sometimes better) and straight forward mod manager. Once I figured out it only recognizes esps that have the lower case .esp extension. (thanks to others for pointing this out as well), it is working for me - and my lightly modded game. Thanks for this.

An old favorite of mine. I have a ton of archived mods from Planet Elder Scrolls that I put into MMOD format, and its nice to keep this tool around so I can export out the old data if if I need. Fantastic stuff.

It took me a couple of try's for me but here's how I got it to work.

First thing if you haven't scrolled down to Strikerdrone's comment and looked at the directory he used:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind

It will work for you as long as you use that for your C drive.

As for those of use with a hard drive dedicated to our steam library here's how I did it:

    1) Take the same directory and change the first letter for the drive you select.
    2) Use "Steam Library," instead of program files 86.
    3) Once you have replaced file 86 with your library then remove Steam and you should have this for example:
    D:\Steam Library\Steam apps\Common\Morrowind

    Hope this helps!

IF YOU STILL HAVE TROUBLE, when path link it to morrowind just delete the end of the link "/New Folder" then it'll work guaranteed. Thanks Alpha as that helped massive apart from that tiny bit lol Example..:\Steam Library\Steam apps\Common\Morrowind/New Folder. Delete that New Folder bit and the slash of course.

IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH ESP NOT WORKING!!!!
Easily fixed, simply rename the ESP at the end of the file name into esp.
    For example, 'Balmora.ESP' into 'Balmora.esp'
    Enjoy!

Just use Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). Nexus started heavily pushing its replacement (Vortex) but NMM is still being developed on GitHub.
