Yeah... i have no clue why people are silly enough to dedicate time to a mod thats going to at add a TINY amount of detail at the cost of a Stupidly high fps drop for the detail tradeoff..
Like im here trying to refine my game and get rid of all these retarded meshes, and there is only a handful of optimized mesh mods... Im literally going to start just deleting these fucking things and just using vanilla, because im sure vanilla meshes are stupid low polycount and have the right amount of detail for what the f*#@ it is..... Like a bowl needs 300 poly's........
I agree that most of these "improvements" are pretty poorly done, probably because the author used the Subdivision Surface modifier on the triangulated vanilla meshes, while it is meant to be used with quad faces. The results are ridiculously high polygon counts and distorted uv maps, just for a bit smoother, but not really more detailed, objects.
However, if your graphics card is a bit newer than Morrowind itself, there should be no noticeable FPS drop with these or similar meshes. Since the release of Morrowind, graphics cards have been able to draw more and more polygons virtually at once, and unless we are talking about literally hundreds of thousands of triangles, there should be no performance decrease at all. In fact, when it comes to Morrowind, it is much more important how many different objects are in a scene (object = every separate NiTriShape in a mesh), because for every object the CPU has to make a draw call to the graphics card, and as Morrowind is only able to use one CPU core, this can become a major bottleneck, while the GPU has very little to do. On the other hand, it doesn't really matter how many polygons each object has, because for the GPU there is no real difference between drawing 10 polygons or 1000, as long as they belong to the same object.
This doesn't mean meshes should not be optimized and this mod is a good example how not to do mesh improvements, but unless your GPU is more than 10 years old it is very unlikely that they are actually the reason for low FPS.
For anyone having FPS issues with this mod, try to install the Stuporstar's Mesh Improvements Optimized too. It has some low poly mesh substitutes that may improve performance. For OpenMW users, maybe you will need to delete some of its files, as stated here: https://modding-openmw.com/mods/mesh-improvements-optimized/
And, for the most part, this: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/38170 (although it has some not so great meshes and may introduce some minor bugs, see comments)
Did you receive my PM armed_defender ? Members of the Project Morrowind 3e433 enjoyed a lot your work and we would like to use your nif files for item replacing. MW3E433 adds Vvardenfell and Solstheim in oblivion game with upper-leveled graphics. See here for other informations, but I don't know if there's an english section. This is a french project. We just need your authorization for using your mod ">

Thanks
Glad you like it!
Thank you, thank you ">
Very good works!!!
The latest version has been uploaded now. Enjoy!
Also, I've uploaded an application to automatically install as some people were having trouble. If there are any problems with it, let me know.
