High Elven culture is dying. This fact has been true ever since the fall of the Ayleids and the end of the Merethic Era, but especially now after the fall of Summerset those hundreds of years ago  by the will of Tiber Septim and his Empire is this case especially true. No High Elves speak of this fact; but deep down they all know it to be true. Even lurking whispers dare not speak this. The High Elf culture was the greatest in Tamriel, and nearly all others can trace their roots back to it in one form or another; via magic, language, architecture, or religion, almost all mortals of Tamriel can call Summerset the producer of the matrix they are today. For the High Elves, their days of vast influence are long gone. The days of mass pogroms against foreigners when Dominion-hired mercenaries overstayed their visit are distant memories. The nanban ports they once housed have simply vanished and instead the entire island is now under Imperial direct control. Never has a culture so isolated for so long been jerked out of its solitude and raped like Summerset has... and to think the Dunmer complain with their cushy set up.
