How much will this change interiors, for compatibility reasons? Just quickly thinking about it I can name four mods off the top of my head that would need patching if the changes are fairly extensive.

Fairly? They will be completely replaced. New tile set that reflects the exterior models correctly and new furniture as well. If you want to let me know which mods would be affected then feel free and I will see what can be done.

Had a think about it and looked through my load order. Ones that I think are fairly popular and might have issues:
'MCA' and 'Starfires Npcs' might have some weirdness with character spawns.
The chimneys and fireplaces from 'Barabus Fireplaces' might put some of them in odd spots.
'The Ebony Blade' has its quest starter npc in Shenks Shovel. 'To Serve Sithis' uses one of the houses as a sanctuary I believe, I haven't played it yet to be 100% certain.
Not interior related but 'The Doors - Caldera' alters the main gates to be locked at night by replacing it with their own, and 'Nighttime Door Locks' does the same for exterior doors. No idea how the various 'Windows Glow' mods work, but there /might/ be issues interior and exterior if they work by adding and swapping out windows on a script.
'Antares Archmage Tower' and the fairly recent 'Caldera Mages Guild Expanded' both add to the guild hall too.

Gee thanks that's awesome mate. Hoping to add my own windows glow (if I remember) and the door locking wont be an issue because it doesn't use any vanilla doors at all and the NPC's and shops etc will have their own schedules anyway.
The Shenks shovel NPC is no problem. I can patch them easily so that's one down. Lucevars mages guild well, I have to speak to him on Discord because I was hoping he would do a different version that would work with the new stuff. also I would model a new interior to his specifications so must be tempting lol? To Serve Sithis. I will contact the author and see if we can work some kind of patch out (again will offer a newly modelled interior set) as for fireplaces, all houses will have new ones and stacks to suit (in the right place!)

Looks stunning and promising. The alley gives the typical Imperial Town vibe we all love. Where else could we find such a scene in the vanilla game? Pelagiad? Seyda Neen?
A suggestion, for interiors, I think using existing vanilla interiors, with perhaps a little tweak and redesign, could be enough. That would at least reduce the incompatibility chances with other mods.
All in all, keep up man. To be honest, even if the mod only gives us the change as in the picture, that would already be good enough!

Thank you for nice comments and suggestions. Unfortunately the exterior layouts demand a new interior tile set so this will delay the release but, as I am quite a prolific modeller it wont delay it until 2090 lol

The picture above has already changed considerably (better UV mapping, edge timbers, dorms on the roofs and chimney stacks etc) and will continue to do so until I am happy :)
