vacations on anvil, is as pleasant as it seems?
Anvil—the shimmering jewel of Cyrodiil’s Gold Coast. Tourists flock here for its golden beaches, bustling harbor, and the promise of a carefree getaway. But beneath the sunlit waves and charming facades, a darker truth lurks. Is this paradise as pleasant as it seems?
Anvil’s travel brochures boast of “idyllic relaxation,” but recent reports suggest a surge in disappearances among travelers. Locals whisper about shadowy figures operating at night, and some say those who go for a midnight swim never return. Could it be pirates? Smugglers? Or something… worse?
Exclusive Interview: Neresa Nelvano, Dunmer Member of Skooma TV, with The Arenthian, Wood Elf Thief and Overseer of Thieves Guild Operations in Anvil and Sutch
Live on Skooma TV—Part of the “Dark Tides” Special
“The Arenthian, it’s a pleasure to have you on. You’re known for overseeing the Guild’s activities here in Anvil and Sutch, a man who knows his way around a con. But there’s been a lot of talk lately about Anvil being a hotspot for darker things—some even whispering about Daedric forces and rituals. What do you make of all that?”
The Arenthian:
“Pleasure to be here, Neresa. As for Anvil, it’s a place full of opportunities, but also full of shadows. There’s more going on here than just the usual Guild activities. People disappearing, strange rituals, and those Navy officers poking their noses in... All of this points to something far darker than a few petty crimes. It’s not just about thieving anymore—it’s bigger than that.”
Neresa Nelvano (nodding attentively):
“I hear you. So, this isn’t just about making money or running the Guild—it’s more like there’s a bigger force behind everything, pulling the strings. But I’m curious, is that any more to be concerned about?
The Arenthian (pauses, with a slight frown):
“Skooma... It's always around, Well, let’s just say that it’s one of the many tools used by these forces to control people. It’s not just for pleasure—it’s about making people weaker, easier to manipulate. The Guild’s not the only one involved, though. There are darker forces at play here, using Skooma to further their goals.”
Neresa Nelvano (eyes light up as she hears “Skooma”):
“Wait, did you just say Skooma? Skooma?” (leans forward, a little more eager)
“You know, it’s been a while since I’ve had a... little taste of it. Just a little. It’s... it’s been on my mind lately. A little boost never hurt anyone, right?”
The Arenthian (visibly disappointed, raises an eyebrow):
“Neresa... Are you seriously going down this road? Skooma isn’t a joke. It’s not some little pleasure for you to indulge in. It’s dangerous—it ruins lives. And you're sitting here on Skooma TV, acting like it’s just a harmless little thing. You're better than this.”
Neresa Nelvano (grinning, clearly triggered):
“Oh come on, The Arenthian! A little doesn’t hurt, right? Just a little taste... you know how it goes. Just to take the edge off this interview. I mean, we're talking about dark forces, rituals, and Daedric power. Surely, a little bit of Skooma could help, you know... sharpen the senses, get in the right mood. I’m sure you have some, right?”
The Arenthian (visibly frustrated, shakes his head):
“I'm seriously disappointed in you, Neresa. I thought you’d be here to talk about what’s really going on in this city, not to indulge your little addiction. This isn’t just some game—it’s people’s lives we’re talking about. People are dying, disappearing, and all you can think about is a quick high? You’re no different than the people we’re trying to protect others from.”
Neresa Nelvano (laughing it off, still insistent):
“Alright, alright, I hear you, but... seriously, a little wouldn’t hurt, right? Just to get in the mood for all this talk about power and control. It's a lot, you know... I need something to take the edge off."
The Arenthian (stands up, shaking his head):
“You’re hopeless. I came here to give some real insight into what’s happening in Anvil, and you just want to keep chasing after your next high. Forget it. I’m done with this interview.”
(The Arenthian turns to walk away, clearly disappointed.)
Neresa Nelvano (shrugs, still grinning):
“Well... guess that’s one way to end it.”
