Couldn't write save data! I opened this as administrator, but I can't do anything! It's set as lastest version too, and it can read the current armor, but not write, why may this be?
Whenever I run the exe and choose Search Character Data it just closes. I have turned on Do not backup saved files and ran in administrator mode and still nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
Does this work for Palicoes? If not, could it? I feel like it's pretty weird there doesn't seem to be layered armor/weapons for them, not even in mod form
This is wonderfully executed. I was pleasantly surprised that it kept my look even after restarting the game and upgrading to a new armor. It's a one time deal unless you want to change your look again. Great work.
Don't know if this could help anyone but I'll leave it here: I had an issue where using this mod with DirectX 12 API turned on in the game's display settings would cause the mod to crash immediately after searching for data. Turning DirectX 12 API off fixed the issue, but I wanted to keep it on because it offers higher graphical performance.
The solution was to set both the mod and game executables to run as administrator.
If anyone needs help doing this go to Steam<SteamLibrary<steamapps<common<Monster Hunter World and find the executable named "MonsterHunterWorld" for the game, and "MHW Costume Armor" for the mod file (mod file may be in a different file location if you installed it in a different location or with a mod manager) and for either file, right click and hit properties, click on compatibility, at the bottom hit "Change settings for all users" (could also say advanced depending on your windows version), tick "Run this program as an administrator", hit apply then OK (for repeated use, for single use just right-click and hit "Run as administrator"). Do this for both the game executable and the mod executable and it should be able to now run with DirectX 12 API turned on. If running the game as admin breaks other tools try setting them to run as admin as well, if it still breaks you may have to run everything without admin privileges and without DirectX 12 API.
For reference the debug log error was this "QNetwork returned errror TLS initialization failed"
I have no idea if there's any correlation between that error and DirectX 12 API, but this fix worked for me.
As of last week mine was working fine. Do you know if something was updated?
I had the same issue with the tool crashing after attempting to "Search for character data". Running the game and the tool in admin mode caused the tool to say "MHW doesn't seem to be open". Did you experience this?
Turning off DirectX 12 API allowed me to load character data but then it couldn't write save data to apply the armor. Did you run into that as well? (I didn't have "do not backup save files" checked.) The tool now functions how it is supposed to, I just to have DirectX 12 on : (
A bit late to respond to this but I'll do it anyways
The mod was last updated on Oct. 22 on both the mod page here and the GitHub page so nothing was changed recently.
I had that issue before running the game in DX12 API on and with the admin modes configured, never had that issue turning DX12 on. As far as I can tell DX12 API messes with the elevation of the game .exe so running both as admin fixes that issue, but I could be wrong.
If the tool only functions with DX12 API on but not with it turned off I would recommend reverting the admin settings of the .exes, ensuring the mod is installed in the game folder (I don't believe it actually needs to be but it never hurts), and checking the debug log when it crashes without DX12 API running. The location of the debug log is in the file extraction folder and is named "CostumeArmor".
Alternatively, and you may have tried this already, you can set the layered armor in DX12 and then turn it off when you've got the armor you want to use. It's a bit of a hassle rebooting the game but it works if you don't need DX12 turned on or if it gives performance issues.

Is the armor you want to replace already in storage?
Can be replaced at will later
