About this mod
Changes the way rage and stamina work. Not intended to make the game harder, is merely a different way of doing monster rage in case you don't like the vanilla behavior.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
These changes are meant to give each fight's final throes the feeling that you're performing a dance, switching between defense when the monster is enraged to offense when you get that opening. It is also meant to give you more time to appreciate a monster's normal state without any buffs to speed, which you rarely see in Master Rank due to how low the damage threshold for rage is and how long it lasts --- you will likely spend the majority of fights with the monster enraged.
For monsters that act as bosses that already have phases, this mod will usually kick in on their final phase. For Shara Ishvalda in particular, it enters its naked form at around half health, but its enrage threshold has been set to 1/3rd health so that it doesn't immediately open its eyes when it sheds its shell.
Note: Some monsters may not take well to the speed change, so do keep an eye out for any that exhibit game breaking behavior. If you find any that become nearly impossible to beat due to their buffs or break in some way, please notify me and I will try to tweak them.
What monsters does this affect?
This mod will affect all Vanilla monsters. However, mod-added variants and subspecies will not be affected, as they have different files for aggression and stamina. Upon request, I can cover these modded monsters.
If I missed any, please notify me.
Does this work online?
Do not use this mod online unless the people you are playing with also have it installed. You will cause desyncing. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT play with this installed with randoms. Do not do SOS' with this installed. Do not enter a random lobby with this installed. Do not play with other people who don't know you have it. I am not responsible for any misunderstandings or salt that may result from such a terrible decision.
And no, you will not get banned, you'll just confuse a lot of people if you happen to be the host. In case you didn't know, monster behavior is determined by the host's files, not anybody who joins.
What Files does this modify?
In every monster's respective folder in "em", there is a "data" folder for each subtype, represented by a 2-digit number. In the data folder, there are two files that this mod overwrites for every vanilla monsters: The ones named "emXX.dtt_agr" and "emXX.dtt_sta". If you have installed monster mods previously, this may overwrite them. Please be mindful of which mods you are overwriting and make sure they aren't changes you don't want. And no, there is no universal file for rage mechanics as far as I am aware. The only way to change monster behavior is on a case by case basis. If you use a mod such as "Dangerous and Persistent Enrage", this WILL conflict.
Is this mod complete?
No. This mod is NEARLY complete, and just requires playtesting and tweaking. Consider it in beta until further notice. I plan to add support for Devil Gene Nergigante, White Fatalis, and Crimson Fatalis (as addon files) as soon as I can get around to testing their fights thoroughly.
That's nice and all, but how do I actually install it?
Just like you install every MHW mod. But if you're new to the scene, just drag and drop the "em" folder contained in the downloadable zip file into "NativePC" which is located in the same folder as the MHW exe. If you don't know where THAT is, check your "steamapps" folder where all of your steam games are located. When prompted to merge folders, accept. When prompted to overwrite, hesitate and consider whether or not you have a mod that you're about to overwrite with this one. If you are unsure, DON'T overwrite.
(X Monster) is too hard!
If you can't beat the monster, please do not vaguely complain in the comments. Tell me SPECIFICALLY how you fight the monster, and SPECIFICALLY how you believe it's too hard. I can only make tweaks if I have an idea of the issue. Otherwise, all I can do is refight the monster with various settings and probably come to the same conclusion I did the last time I tested them.
