About this mod

Lightweight color-correction and color-grading using a LUT (with a sharpening filter). Next to no performance impact. Invokes that old-school Monster Hunter vibe.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Installation:
  • Install ReShade. Make sure you pick the LUT and FilmicAnamorphSharpen effects to install.
  • Download the main file and extract the .ini and reshade-shaders folder to your MHW directory (where the .exe is).
  • (Optional) If you already have ReShade installed but didn't install the LUT and Sharpen shaders listed in step 1, I have an optional download that contains them. Just drop them into ./reshade-shaders/Shaders/

I took screenshots of various environments, took them into Photoshop, and color corrected and graded them.

It has been a while since I made the LUT but from what I remember I: adjusted the white balance a little, reduced the greens and blues, and provided a slight saturation boost. Due to the "one size fits all" nature of ReShade, two very minor side-effects are that your menus will be slightly brown-tinted as opposed to the blue-tint that vanilla has and snowy areas have a very slight purple tint as opposed to blue tint.

As a result colors are more vibrant without having the stereotypical "I put the saturation to max and called it a day" look. There's also a sharpening filter included if you use TXAA + FXAA like I do (you can disable it if you prefer supersampling).
