Replaces the standard counter SFX as Dante (DMC5)'s Royal Guard/Release/Revenge SFX.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
This mod is compatible with Sunbreak as well as base MHR.
Title Update #4 Compatible (as of 2023/2/12).

REMINDER: You will see that some of the counters mentioned in this mod are Sunbreak exclusive. You can still install this mod on base MHR with no problem to enjoy the counter that you already have. It's just that you can't use the Sunbreak-exclusive counters. You can still hear the replaced SFX proc when a Sunbreak player joins you and executes those counters.


Description

Upon successful installation of this mod, the standard counter SFX for every weapon that has a counter will be replaced with Dante (DMC5)'s Royal Guard/Release SFX.

Combined with Dante-style Switch Skill Swap, you can truly become Dante in MHR!

  • Tempered Slash

Sword & Shield
  • Metsu Shoryugeki

  • Anchor Rage
  • Counter Thrust
  • Insta Block (missed in the video)

Hammer
  • Water Strike

  • Elemental Burst Counter

Charge Blade
  • Counter Peak Performance
  • Counter Morph Slash (missed in the video)

Heavy Bowgun
  • Counter Shot/Charger

  • Shrouded Vault (Impossible since the move doesn't have any sound. Can't replace something that isn't there.)

  • Guard Edge (Impossible since only the standard block sound plays for the move. No dedicated counter sound.)

  • Wyvern Counter (Impossible since only the standard explosion sound plays for the move. No dedicated counter sound.)

Hunting Horn - NO COUNTER
Insect Glaive - NO COUNTER


Things to note about sound files


  • Tempered Slash (LS) uses the same sound as Metsu Shoryugeki (SnS) and Counter Shot/Charge (HBG). They all use the counter SFX from the wirebug sound file, not their respective sound files. Hence, they're tied together.
  • So for Tempered Slash (LS) to work, you MUST enable the SnS + HBG option of the mod. Sorry, this is just how the game functions, so I can't do anything about it.



Installation


(Fluffy version)

You MUST install Fluffy Manager 5000 for this to work!
1. Place the .rar file
 to the "\Games\MHRISE\Mods" folder in the Fluffy mod manager directory
1-2. Please DO NOT unzip the .rar file if you would like to retain the toggle function!

2. Run Fluffy mod manager and enable the mod
2-2. Toggle what weapon you would like to enable the SFX.

Detailed description

There are two types of counters in MHR.

1. Block Counter - Charges something or just negates damage.

  • Counter Peak Performance (CB, it can connect to SAED, but CPP itself isn't a counter attack, but rather just a block.)
  • Strongarm Stance (GS, it can connect to TCS, but SS itself isn't an attack, and it even has a shield block SFX.)
  • + Any other shield-type weapons even if they are a counter attack, since they use their shields to block to initiate the counter.

2. Counter Attack - Initiates a counter attack right as a counter is executed at the right timing.

  • Iai Spirit Slash (LS)
  • Elemental Burst Counter (SA)

2-1. Auto Counter Attack - Just use the move and you'll go into a ready motion, then the counterattack will automatically trigger as you're hit.

  • Serene Pose (LS)

As such, I got three different SFX from Royal Guard.

1. Royal Guard
2. Royal Release
3. Royal Revenge (Auto counter)

respectively.

This is a clip from DMC5, my inspiration for this mod. It shows how the above mentioned SFXs sound:



Royal Guard SFX will be applied to Block Counter,
Royal Release SFX will be applied to Counter Attack,
and Royal Revenge SFX will be applied to Auto Counter Attack.




Affected Counters:

Royal Guard
 SFX marked as Orange,
Royal Release SFX marked as Red,
and Royal Revenge SFX marked as Green.
