About this mod

A simple ReShade preset that attempts to correct the game's infamous washed-out visuals without going overboard.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
* You will need REFramework to correct the game crashing with the ReShade .dll injection *
* I had trouble getting the game to work with the latest ReShade version. I instead used version 4.9.1 which has worked flawlessly for me. You can download that here: https://reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_4.9.1.exe *

Overly-Wordy Installation:
1. Install REFramework and ReShade. If you've never used ReShade before, here's a quick step-by-step:
1a. Install ReShade. Preferably 4.9.1 (download link above) until the game
works more consistently with newer versions. Point to the game's exe.
1b. Pick Direct3D 10/11/12
1c. If you're only going to use this preset, you can uncheck all the other
packages. Tick the box by "fubax-shaders by Fubaxiusz". Hit OK and on the next screen click uncheck all and just grab FilmicAnamorphSharpen.fx. (I've been told that others don't have that option in the list for some reason. If that applies to you, just skip that for now and see step 2a later.
1e. Once you're all done, go ahead and close the installation window.
2. Drop the .ini you downloaded from this mod page into the game's folder.
2a. Fubax's repository can be downloaded >here<. Open the zip and put the Shaders/FilmicAnamorphSharpen.fx file into MonsterHunterRise/reshade-shaders/Shaders if you didn't/couldn't get it during the ReShade installation..
3. Launch the game, hit the HOME key to open ReShade settings, click the
box at the top by the left and right arrows (probably says
reshade_preset.ini or something), and select my preset.
4. Tick performance mode at the bottom if it's not already enabled. Press HOME to close the window. You're good to go. Have fun.

This ReShade preset intends to add some color to the game to make it resemble the older games (specifically 3rd and 4th gen) a bit better.
I took some screenshots, put them into photoshop, adjusted black and white levels, made some curve adjustments, increased the vibrancy a lot, and increased the saturation a small amount. Then I saved it as a LUT. LUTs perform very well so it's unlikely that anybody who can run MHRise would ever have any issues running this preset.

I also used FilmicAnamorphicSharpen for those who, like myself, use TAA + FXAA for antialiasing instead of something like supersampling. If that's not your cup of tea then you can just head into the ReShade settings and untick it.
