About this mod

This mod lets you tame any mobs/animals in Minecraft. It was designed in a way that it also supports mobs added by other mods.

The goal is to let the player tame creatures, while keeping as much of their unique characteristics as possible (e.g. attack style). Because of this, some features may not work on some mobs (bosses especially).

AnyPet
Make any creature your pet!
(For Minecraft 1.7.10)

Items

Tame Powder

Taming a mob is as simple as sprinkling some magical powder on it.
To make this powder, you’ll need two gold nuggets, glowstone dust and sugar.

*The ingredients are not in any particular order.

To tame a creature, just right click on it with this powder. Once a creature is tamed, a name tag will appear above it.

Pet Controller

After taming a creature, you might want to tell it what to do, or upgrade it.
For this, you will need a pet controller.

You can assign / reassign it to a pet by right clicking while sneaking.
The control menu opens by right clicking.

On this menu, you can change how the pet is going to behave, and you can level up it’s skills.

On the left side, you can allow or disallow the pet to attack. If a pet is allowed to attack, it will target the creature you hit.

You can also change it’s task. Possible tasks: Follow, Stay, Wander

If the pet can’t find a way to reach you, you can teleport it to yourself using the Teleport button.

If you shift-right click on a pet with an empty hand, you can open it’s equipment. (More on that later) Some mobs however will open a different GUI on top when right clicked. In this case, you can open it’s equipment with the Equipment button.

At the bottom, you can set the „Min” and „Max” distance. These values control how the pet follows the player. When a pet is at least
[Min Distance] away, it’s going to be moving towards the player until it gets closer than [Max Distance].

On the right side, you can level up the skills.
Every pet starts with 5 skill points, and 1 point is awarded after each level up.

The skills are:
  • Regeneration
  • Damage
  • Fire Rate
  • Run Speed
  • Swim Speed

Skills can be reset at any time, by clicking the Reset Skills button.

Mob Cage

When you are traveling through dangerous paths, or going through a portal, and you want to bring your pet, you can take it with you in
your inventory with a mob cage.

To craft it, you will need iron bars:

To catch or release your pet (or any other mob), right click with the cage.
When releasing, aim at the ground.

The cage icon will change to the captured entity’s front view.

Magic Mob Cage

A different version of the Mob Cage is the Magic Mob Cage.

It’s a bit more expensive. You will also need soulsand.

This cage doesn’t get empty when you release the captured entity. Instead, it’s going to recharge, and you can release the entity again.
The recharge time depends on the maximum health of the mob.

To make it easier to differentiate between the cages, the mobs are drawn differently:

If a mob is tamed, it’s stats will be shown when you hover your mouse.

Custom Spawner

This mod also adds a mob spawner. It appears and behaves exactly like the vanilla one, except that it can be crafted and broken.

To set the entity which the spawner will produce, right click on it with a Magic Mob Cage.

And you can break it with a pickaxe.

Equipping your pets

Your pets can be equipped. To open the pet’s equipment, shift-right click on it with an empty hand, or open it from the control panel.

Most mobs are rendered without the armor (animals, villagers, creeper, etc.), but it might still take effect.
This panel allows you to check the stats of your pet as well.

Also, the pet can be renamed. (If you delete everything from the textbox, the name tag won’t be rendered.)

The weapon
Even though it’s not supported on all mobs, you can make your pet ranged by equipping a bow.
If you level up the Fire Rate skill to 37, you can produce some really insane pets. Like this turbo cow:

Compatibility with other mods

This mod also supports mobs added by other mods.
Personally, I have tested it with 4 mods, and it was fully compatible:

1.      Grimoire of Gaia 3

2.      MoCreatures

3.      JurassicCraft

4.      Fossils and Archeology Revival

The bottom line is that modded mobs can also be tamed; however, if a mod handles it’s creatures in an extremely unique way, some aspects may not be supported. (Like equipping a bow may have no effect).

Exceptional mobs (vanilla)

Even though all creatures can be tamed (meaning, you can use tame powder on them, open their equipment, and use the controller), some
features may not work on some mobs.

  • Blaze, Zombie Pigman, Ghast, Creeper, Silverfish, Enderman, Dragon, Wither, Spider: can’t change the attack strategy (melee/ranged) by equipping a weapon (bow, sword, etc.).
  • Ghast, Dragon, Bat: Won’t follow you.
  • Slime, Magma cube, Bat, Squid: Won’t assist you in attack.
  • Dragon, Wither: Will still target you.
  • Witch: The equipped weapon will vanish when starts drinking health potions.
  • Dragon: You have to use the left mouse button for taming, assigning a controller, and using a cage.

Aditional Notes

Keep in mind, that hostile mobs - even if they are tamed - are still considered monsters, and will despawn if you switch to Peaceful mode. Also,
Iron Golems will still target them.
