About this mod

This config has been highly tweaked and balanced, from the exposure settings, lighting settings, HDR settings, performance tweaks to maxing out every setting (except hairwaorks) to try and create an ''Enhanced Edition' without the need for specific hardware, that can be played very comfortably on a Vega 11 iGPU at 1080p.or even lower end hardware.

Permissions and credits

IMPORTANT: This config is for Vanilla, Non Enhanced versions of Metro Exodus. always back up your user.cfg file before copying over this one. If you do mess up, delete the user.cfg file, start up metro exodus in compatibility mode, change something in graphic options and it'll make a new stock config file, so don't sweat it.

Main Features

- Massively improved FPS over stock config
- Can be easily sped up by reducing Texture Quality from ultra to high, medium or even low (I can only imagine intel GPU needing low settings) if using very low end hardware
- Enabled and balanced HDR values as well as lighting and exposure settings to improve realism and immersion
- Ultra settings with all settings maxed or enabled are the default and are capable with this config even on very low hardware @ 1080p (excluding hairworks)
- Can be played with as little as a Ryzen 5 3400G Vega 11 iGPU
- Tweaked blur to be more realistic
- Makes more headroom for higher end hardware to handle Extreme graphics settings
- Made to be used in conjunction with The Ultra Realism Cine FX reshade preset created by Kycok_Xleba (http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/11012/) Massive thanks to kycok_Xleba for creating this preset, its gorgeous. After enabling the preset, I also enable Fidelity FX, you dont need to do this but it costs very little in resources.
- The config should be suited to most reshade presets as long as the preset doesnt darken the picture as it'll be too dark. Saying that it'd be interesting to see what other presets would look like, Kycok Xebla's was the first one I liked so I used it, but other realism presets should work well.

At 1080p expect ultra graphics, ultra realistic lighting, physx enabled, 16x Anisotropic Filtering, DirectX11 Tessellation enabled, shader setting at 1.0 with resahde preset above

Changing Settings:
Find where your user.cfg file is. GOG's is in the game directory, so click on the metro exodus shortcut on your desktop, open file location, right click properties on the user.cfg file, uncheck Read Only, make the changes and recheck Read Only so the game can't edit the file.

Here's some settings you might want to change:

invert_y_axis on- self explanatory
r_blur_level 1     - 0=OFF, if you want to turn off blur
r_game_mblur_scale 0.75        - Change to '0' with r_blur_level to completely turn of motion blur
r_dlss - only dlss OR hdr can be enabled at once, I have no idea how dlss will affect the hdr values
raytrace 0  - NVIDIA USER'S dont know if it works, 1=HIGH, 2=ULTRA. set raytrace_cull to 2 if enabled
raytrace_cull 0   - Set to 2 if raytrace = 1 or 2
r_quality_level 3- 0=LOW 1=MEDIUM 2=HIGH 3=ULTRA 4=EXTREME Texture Quality
r_res_hor 1920  - Horizontal Resolution
r_res_vert 1080 - Vertical Resolution
r_vsync 0   - 1=ENABLED

Unfortunately it still dips in FPS when looking at the train and the crane in Volga and I can't find a way to fix that through the config.

NOTE: Check Readme for other optimizations and  what to do if your hardware can't push it.

On a side note If anyone wants to make a video and add it to the page I would very much appreciate it. Recording footage on low end hardware isn't fantastic... Apart from that enjoy the game!
