About this mod

No fog, no music, no radio chatter, more map revealed.

Permissions and credits
This mod:

  • Removes the fogwalls blocking visibility between parts of the world
  • Removes the fog itself, because there's no known way to leave it in AND increase visibility at this time
  • Reveals that most of the world has very little LOD polish because the fog's supposed to hide it
  • Forces mostly cloudy weather with a little rainy for mood, because both cloudy and rainy have a fog effect that can be fine-tuned
  • Discovers that cloudy weather is hardcoded to pretend it's sunny weather at night, so at night you get to see the game's underpants
  • Alternates between cloudy and tuneable-foggy during MP matches

Also:

  • Mutes all non-tape music
  • Mutes all radio chatter not unique to a specific mission
  • Increases map reveal distance fivefold

Also:

  • Turns the ruins into a spotlight

It's a first effort.  I'll keep prodding at the game in the hopes of accomplishing other things, like-

  • Leaving in the fog, but improving the draw distance - you no longer need oxygen with this mod and that wasn't really the intent, I just couldn't do it any other way
  • Creating new, optionally-breakable boxes to help with collecting all tapes/colors/recipes in case that last one's being elusive
  • Improving on the co-op lobby by throwing some random enemies in or whatever
  • Using the scope UI instead of the standard UI, so it gets tucked into the corner
  • Muting the ! sound

-but right now I don't have elegant solutions for any of these.  Also shit might break y'all.

File goes in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\METAL GEAR SURVIVE\master\0\00.dat.  You'll have to create a directory named "0", the number, as a subdirectory of \master\ .

If you want to use this with Rubim's minimap mod, rename one of ours to 01.dat and something good might happen.

v01- release, thx Rubim for numerous consultations
v02- hotfix for breaking missions somehow, thx Aquinass for the bug report
