About this mod
A Template for creating custom camos, a simple black template in .DDS format to use when applying custom camo patterns.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
Requires a .DDS Plugin to work,
Below is a tutorial on how to use this template, Olive Drab base recommended:
- After obtaining the required software (GIMP and a .DDS Plugin) open the camo you wish to 'modify / add a pattern to' without Mip-Maps.
- At this point, you should have a 2048x2048 canvas with your base texture on a single layer (You can generate Mip-Maps when finished.)
- Now, take the pattern you wish to add, and either paste or import it onto a new layer, this layer should be above your default / base texture.
- Then, open my .DDS file as a new layer, drag the template's layer to the top of the "Layers" tab, with your base texture at the very bottom.
- Lastly, right click the template layer and choose to "Merge Down" causing your pattern and my template to become a single layer.
- Finally, use the "Fuzzy Select Tool" to highlight the black areas one at a time and delete those portions using the "DELETE" Key.
After Deleting all of these black portions, you should now have to layers, the base texture you started with, and a perfect cutout of your pattern.
(Play around with cutout layer's modes to get the best effect. If using Olive Drab as a base, "Overlay" works very well!)
Merge the remaining layers together and you are finished, save your new texture with Mip-Maps and get to modding!
(Make sure to use the proper compression!)
