Converts the very boring [BAIT BOTTLE] into the brand new [MED SPRAY], allowing you to use its stock as healing opportunities, a great way to contextualize a new functionality for a very niche item while making for a great throwback to the MGS rations of yesteryear.

Whenever you're injured (for at least a third of total health), select the item and press the Action Button ( ? ) to fully restore health. The bait bottle itself can still be used exactly as before.

*Cannot be used for healing during FOB missions -

Currently supports following languages:
  • English (thanks to me!)
  • Spanish (gracias a mí!)
  • Russian  (AI) (spasiba, CapLag!)
  • Japanese  (arigato, Mia!)
  • Portuguese (obrigado, Carlos!)
  • French (merci, Tomás!)
  • Chinese (xiexie, GDIcomm!)
  • Italian (grazie, SpectreITA!)
  • German ✓ (danke, Pliskin1972!)
.
Thank you to everyone who liked the mod enough to care and message me with translations! I'm very happy to be able to make a mod to be enjoyed by people that speak all available languages, seriously.

This mod was inspired by:
  • AyyKyu's "No Health Regeneration", as it made me consider the fact that this game doesn't have rations nor any manual/voluntary way of healing as older games had, which of course has to do with its generous HP regen.
  • Bolmin's "First Aid Revamp", as it made me notice I was not the first one that had this exact same idea (actually uncanny lol), and more importantly I realized it was possible and gave me somewhere to start from.
  • MohtalGear's "Magazine Osp add-on", as it gave me an idea of what new functionality for an item would look like, both game-wise and on code.

Things to know:
  • When forcing injury, I call a HighSpeedCamera.RequestEvent with a worldTimeRate of 1 to prevent slowmo, and a continueTime of 120 (2 minutes). This means if you select the item and wait 2 full minutes until healing or switching it back, you'll be stuck in slowmo until the next time you heal. You can change the .lua file (FirstAidBait.lua) (line 333) and put a way higher value if you want; I chose to be moderate.
    .
  • This mod wont overlap at all with regular serious injuries. You'll still get slowmo when getting one, and if you do get a legit body injury, the spray animation will play out as expected yet you wont lose a stock, nor will you need stock to heal a legit body injury of course. If interrupted when healing with the Med Spray, the resulting serious injury will be a legit one, meaning slowmo and no stock needed nor spent.
    .
  • Because of the new item name and description, this mod will conflict with custom weapon-name packs, so I recommend installing Med Spray first and just have it be called Bait Bottle. For all the mods I've got, the only one it had a conflict with was JimLafleur's "Lightning and the rain" (Raiden). Dismiss the warning; the conflict is for 1 contained lang file (tpp_weapon.eng.lng2) that doesn't really affect it, though do install Raiden first.
    .
  • A reupload of AyyKyu's "No Health Regeneration", with its lower regeneration variant, has been provided under the "Miscellaneous Files" section within the Files tab of this very mod page, with AyyKyu's permission. It might not come exactly as it was packed originally, since I didn't find the original .rar I just picked up both .mgsv files and made a new one. No health regen is self-explanatory; lower regen slows down the speed at which you regain health.

Huge thanks to:

  • Hunari: for giving me a head start with with the design of the spray-can icon. I really appreciate your time and your work was really useful.
  • BobDoleOwndU: for helping me figure out where to find the correct lang files and finally put the mod together.
  • CapLag: for responding to any question I'd have and taking moments of your day to quickly look for and send me whatever I'd be needing.
  • Mariana: for caring I got home and getting back to me with a guy who knows French and NOT a French guy, and for loving me very much.

And big thanks to the Modders' Heaven community as a whole! All of the collective effort you've been doing over the years to deconstruct this game and develop tools has allowed for someone like me to put this together very straight forwardly.

─── Another mission (^^) . . . right boss ? ───
