About this mod

improves minor annoyances I had with the max settings.

Permissions and credits
At the risk of some fps loss, this file will:
  • Improve LOD dramatically without supersampling, so distant objects won't pop in and out when zooming the camera.
  • Downgrade the Depth of Field to it's high settings preset. This is personal preference, but I find the max DOF setting too intrusive.
  • Improve distant lighting, to keep certain lights and shadows from flickering.


this is in the data_02 file, so after unpacking it, find \data_02\Fox\Scripts\Gr, backup your copy of gr_init_dx11 and replace it with this one.
So far, the people I've shared it with haven't reported any issues. Let me know if you run into any problems.

Unfortunately, this file does not improve on the number of physics objects in the game. Red barrels, speed limit signs and other items will still pop in and out. 

To put things in perspective as far as performance hit: I personally use a GTX 970, which runs these presets at 60fps 1080p (1440p with ~50-55 when it's raining, so there's a lot of breathing room in between). Also, note that turning off Ambient Occlusion altogether will significantly boost framerates.
